The name of this Web Site is derived from a famous authentic statement (hadeeth) of the Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) that translates:

Allah has ninety nine names, one hundred minus one; and he who counts them all will enter Al-Jannah (the Garden Of Heaven), and Allah is "witr" (One) and loves the witr (i.e. odd numbers). [Al-Bukhaari, At-Tirmidhi, An-Nasaai, Ibn Majah]

This statement will indeed be explained in more detail later on. Our motivation behind establishing such a site is because there is such widespread misunderstanding throughout the world about the nature of God (Allah), not to mention the problem of complete disbelief in His existence at all.

You will find various Arabic terms throughout this site. The Arabic word Allah, referring to the Unique and Singular Creator, is of course the most frequently used of these terms. It is often merely translated as meaning God but it is a specific proper name that is not general and cannot be applied to anything that anyone of any faith may call “God”. It is for the sake of familiarity of English readers of the word God that ‘Allah’ is usually translated in that manner. Arabic is the language of the Qur’aan and the Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) which are of course the two main sources of Islamic belief and practice. The transliterated Arabic phrase sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam is actually a type of supplication that is remembered and stated by Muslims upon hearing or reading the name of Muhammad . It is commonly translated as ‘Peace be upon him’ for the sake of brevity and general meaning. The complete meaning is however more detailed and actually constitutes a supplication to Allah asking that Muhammad be praised in His presence by the angels in heaven and that Muhammad be made safe, secure and free from any harm or blame and be additionally mentioned and praised by Allah Himself to those high hosts. Our hope is that the meanings and usage of these terms becomes familiar.
