Bismi’llahi rahmanee raheem. Wa sallallaahu wasallam mubarakan nabiyoona Muhammad wa ‘ala aleehi wasabehi wasallam tasleman katheera
It please us to present our beloved Shaykh Muhammad ‘Abdur Rahmaan Al Khamees, like we mentioned to the Brother before, the Shaykh is well known here in Riyadh and more so in Saudi Arabia and the Shaykh has many books on Aqeedah and he is one of the teachers of the department of the higher studies Imam Islamic University in Riyadh. In addition, to night he is going to benefit us with whatever Allah tabaraka wa ta’ala blesses him with.
Fal yata fadhal Shaykhunna ,masturan Ma’jura
Sh. Muhammad is a well-known teacher and author. He has authored over 30 works in Tawheed. He presently teaches in Imam Islamic University in Riyadh.
All praise and thanks is due to Allaah. We praise Him and seek His Aid and forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allaah from the evil of our action. Whomsoever Allaah guides there is none to misguide and whomsoever Allaah misguides there is none to guide. I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except Allaah, alone, without any partners and I bear witness that Muhammad is His Servant and Messenger. To proceed, the Shaykh Hafidhullaah ta’alaa began with mentioning the name of Allaah and salaams upon the Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam. In addition, what is mentioned above.
The Shaykh Mentions khutbah tul Haaja that was that which our Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam used to start this Ceremony and his talks with Khutbah tul Haaja, the Shaykh Hafidhullaah ta’alaa mentioned that Khutbah tul Haaja is based upon three Principles
The Foundations the first of those principles and foundations is Tawheed (to single out Allaah with all forms of worship, so that you make all of your worship for Allaah alone)
1. Oneness of Allaah Azza wa jal: And he mentioned that Tawheed (to single out Allaah with all forms of worship, so that you make all of your worship for Allaah alone) is either belief and action.
Belief: that we believe that Allaah Tabaraka wa ta’alaa is one in His actions and Allaah is one in His Names and Attributes, and Allaah Tabaraka wa ta’alaa does not have a father Allaah Tabarakta wa ta’alaa does not have His Offspring Allaah Tabarakta wa ta’alaa likewise does not have a spouse the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam mentioned: Al Hamd , which is to praise and thank, Allaah Azza wa jal, so this means that we are praising Allaah Tabarakta wa ta’alaa, and we Give Him due praise, and likewise thereafter , wa Nasta’eenuhu, and we seek assistance (help) from Allaah Azza wa jal verily the support come from Allaah and verily the strength is with Allaah Azza wa jal, with no one else and this is when we say:
Wa Nasta’eenuhu :this is the action that we are seeking the assistance and support from Allaah Azza wa jal, and we do not seek assistance or support from anyone other than Allaah Azza wa jal and this is mentioned in the Surat Al Fatihah( The Mothers of the Book) when we say
إِيَّاكَ نَعۡبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسۡتَعِينُ
IyyakanaAAbudu waiyyaka nastaAAeenu
You (Alone) we worship, and You (Alone) we ask for help (for each and everything).
So worship is an action, and likewise, Waiyyaka nastaAAeen: seeking the support is also an action this is also mentioned in the Surat AL Ikhlas, where it informs of the Tawheed of the Belief and we mentioned and declare that Allaah Tabarakta wa ta’alaa is one and that Our Lord Allaah Tabarakta wa ta’alaa He has no partners, there in no one who is similar to Him, there is no one with Him Tabarakta wa ta’alaa, this is also mentioned in Surat Al Ikhlas, and it’s also mentioned in Surat Al Kafirun Allaah says In Sûrat Al-Kâfirûn(The Disbelievers)(109):1-6)
O Al-Kafirûn (disbelievers in Allâh, in His Oneness, in His Angels, in His Books, in His Messengers, in the Day of Resurrection, and in Al-Qadar).”I worship not that which you worship, “Nor will you worship that which I worship.”In addition, I shall not worship that which you are worshipping. “Nor will you worship that which I worship.”To you be your religion, and to me my religion (Islâmic Monotheism).”
Therefore, the Tawheed (to single out Allaah with all forms of worship, so that you make all of your worship for Allaah alone) of Action and the Tawheed of Belief is also mentioned in all of these verses, the Shaykh Hafidhullaah ta’alaa mentioned.
Because of this reality the Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam mentioned that Surat Ikhlas its is equivalent to a third of Qur’an
The Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam mentioned that Surat Al Ikhlas is Equivalent to a third of the Qur’an.
The Shaykh Hafidhullaah ta’alaa mentions that that subject of Qur’an is divided in to three.
Subjects Divided in to three categories.
1. Tawheed (the belief in Allâh Azza wa jal, in His Oneness, in His Angels, in His Books, in His Messengers, in the Day of Resurrection, and in Al-Qadar).”all this is Tawheed. The Barzak , and the Punishment and the Matters which are unseen.
2. Rulings( of the religion, commands and Prohibitions, and permissible and impermissible)
3. And the Story of the Prophets(from the time of Adam Alayhi sallam to the time of the Our beloved Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu alayhi wasallam
The Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam mentioned that Surat Al Ikhlas is Equivalent to a third of the Qur’an.
And specifically how did the Prophets call their people to Tawheed (to single out Allaah in all acts of worship and to abandon the worship of anything else) how they called their people to worship of Allaah, and leaving alone the worship of other besides Him, and leaving alone the worship of false gods(trees, stones, etc)
The Prophet Adam alayhi salaatu wa salam, was upon Tawheed, he was sent from the sky because he has disobey Allaah Azza wa jal. When Allaah ordered the Prophet Adam alayhi salaatu wa salam not to eat from the tree, And Prophet Adam alayhi salaatu wa salam, had disobey Allaah and then he repented to Allaah Tabarakta wa ta’alaa, Thereafter Allaah sent Adam alayhi salaatu wa salam to be a Khaleefa throughout the earth, meaning to be an individual that establishes the Tawheed (to single out Allaah in all acts of worship and to abandon the worship of anything else) throughout the earth this continued for ten generations, Adam alayhi sallam and his offspring all of them where upon Tawheed, as was mentioned by Ibn Abbaas Radhiyallahu anhuma.
And the individuals that writes about the, history of the earth and like of that they mention that Adam was the first man and that he was upon Shirk, and then when his intelligence developed then he came to Tawheed , there is no doubt this is a mistake (lie) and it goes against the revelation
As Allaah had mentioned in the Qur’an that Adam alayhi sallam and his generation, his offspring were upon the Tawheed. For ten generation, until the people of Nuh alayhi salathi wa sallam. The people of Nuh, they were religious man, and the religious man their names are mentioned in the Quran, from, Wadd, Suwa,Yaghuth, and Ya`uq and Nasr.’ These individuals were very diligent concerning their worship and their religious actions, when these individuals died the shaytan said to the people, why don’t you make pictures of, why don’t you make paintings of these individuals, so that when you remember them, it would make you strong and it would make you diligent in your worship. So you had these religious men, when these men died, the people who were after them were upon Tawheed, until Shaytan inspired his (Nuh’s) people to make picture of the pious man so you can remember them and when you remember them you would be diligent in your worship.
so these people who were upon Tawheed after the death of these pious individual(men ) , they used to remember them, then when that generation died the Shaiytan came to their offspring and said verily your fore father took those pictures, as interceders, meaning(to intercede between them and Allaah Azza Wa Jal.
This was when Shirk took place for the first time upon the earth
The people of Nuh Alayhi sallam and the reason for it was that they felt that they could not directly approach Allaah Azza Wa Jal. that they could not directly supplicate to Allaah, they needed someone to be in between, so by them doing so, they are making a comparison between Allaah and the kings, they said “If you want to reach a king you cannot approach him directly , you have to have a middle man. So we are using these individuals as our middle man as between us and Allaah Azza Wa Jal and this is when shirk first took place upon the earth the first prophet was Adam Alayhi sallam ,and the first Messenger was Nuh Alayhi sallam.
Nuh Alayhi sallam, called his people for 950 to Tawheed, and he was extremely patient with them and they disobeyed him, and they belittled him , and when this took place the punishment came upon them and Allaah tabaraka ta’ala ordered Nuh alayhi sallam to make them Ark, and Allaah tabaraka wa ta’ala ordered Nuh to take on board, two of each beast(animals)creations. In addition, Allaah tabaraka wa ta’ala drawn the rest of the creation, except Nuh Alayhi sallam and those who were with him.
Nuh alayhi sallam called his son who was a disbeliever, he called him to Tawheed and he also supplicated to Allaah, and he called him to join with him, and the son of Nuh said “I will swim to a mountain” .verily he drowned with the rest of the creation.
Allaah tabaraka wa ta’ala sent all of the Prophets, and the first thing, which they called to, was Tawheed. Likewise Allaah Tabarakta wa ta’ala sent Ibraheem alayhi sallam and his father was a disbeliever, he was from amongst the mushrikin, and he was from amongst these individuals who used to make up the idols and he used to worship the idols. Ibraheem alayhi sallam was patient, and he called his people, until they became upset with him and they threw him in to the flames, Allaah Tabarakta wa ta’ala, save Ibraheem alayhi sallam.
Ibraheem is the same individual, one who broke the idols with his own hands, so that they can reflect and contemplate , meaning how can they Idols not benefit themselves, and when Ibraheem alayhi sallam was approached he said “it was the big one that demolished them(idols) ask him”. so this was the action of Ibraheem alayhi sallam, and because of these action.
On the Day of Judgment when people are going through difficulties and trials, and tribulations on the day of they will go to Ibraheem alayhi sallam and they will ask him to intercede for them. they will ask, to speak to Allaah Azza Wa jal , on their behalf, Ibraheem alayhi sallam would apologies and say” I could not do so , because I said to them that it was the big idol that demolished the idols” , while it was Ibraheem himself who did it. , likewise, they will ask Nuh alayhi sallam to Intercede for them and Nuh alayhi sallam Will say to them I cannot do so as I supplicated to my disbelieving son. Likewise, they will go Moosa alayhi sallam, and they will ask Moosa to intercede , to speak to Allaah on their behalf and Moosa alayhi sallam would apologies, and mentioned that “I have killed and individual”. Moreover, .likewise they will go to Isa alayhi sallam, and he would not mention a sin but he would direct them to Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam .they would approach our beloved Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam .and they will say to him “Look that which we are afflicted with , assist us in this affair, so The Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam , would them go to the Throne of Allaah Azza Wa jal, and he would Prostrate under the Throne of Allaah Azza Wa jal., and he would praise Allaah and Glorify Allaah. And Allaah Tabarakta wa ta’ala, would say to the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam “O Muhammad raise your head, ask that which you want to ask, Intercede for these people and I will answer your intersession, this is what would take place , with our beloved Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam.
So we find that all of the Prophets began with Tawheed(to single out Allaah with all forms of worship, so that you make all of your worship for Allaah alone) and this is proven in the Quran and this Proven in the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayi wasallam, with the regard , from the Proofs of the Quran
Allaah Azza Wa Jal says:
وَلَقَدۡ بَعَثۡنَا فِى ڪُلِّ أُمَّةٍ۬ رَّسُولاً أَنِ ٱعۡبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَٱجۡتَنِبُواْ ٱلطَّـٰغُوتَۖ فَمِنۡهُم مَّنۡ هَدَى ٱللَّهُ وَمِنۡهُم مَّنۡ حَقَّتۡ عَلَيۡهِ ٱلضَّلَـٰلَةُۚ فَسِيرُواْ فِى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَٱنظُرُواْ كَيۡفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ (٣٦)
And verily, We have sent among every Ummah (community, nation) a Messenger (proclaiming): “Worship Allâh (Alone), and avoid (or keep away from) Tâghût (all false deities i.e. do not worship Tâghût besides Allâh).” Then of them were some whom Allâh guided and of them were some upon whom the straying was justified. So travel through the land and see what was the end of those who denied (the truth).Sûrat An-Nahl(The Bees)(16:36)
This ayah is clear that Allaah Tabarakta wa ta’ala sent His Messengers, and the first thing they began with is Tawheed, they did not begin with the legislation, they did not began with Ahkam (ya’ani Salaah worship, fasting) that which they first began with was Tawheed
So we benefit from these verses and the previously mentioned speech and that Allaah Azza Wa Jal Ordered all of the Prophets to begin with Tawheed and, their call was to Tawheed, all of the Prophets began their call with Tawheed ( to single out Allaah with all forms of worship, so that you make all of your worship for Allaah alone) and they focused on the Tawheed of the Actions, the Tawheed of Worship, they did not give less importance , to the Tawheed of Belief, Rather the reason why they gave the Tawheed of worship precedence, is because many of the creation, from amongst the Arab they believed in the creator, they believed in the Allaa Azza Wa jal.They believed that there is A Creator and there is the creation, and because of this Allaah Tabaraka wa ta’ala mentions about the Arab if you were to ask them who Created the heavens and the earth they would say Allaah
: وَلَٮِٕن سَأَلۡتَهُم مَّنۡ خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ لَيَقُولُنَّ ٱللَّهُۚ قُلۡ أَفَرَءَيۡتُم مَّا تَدۡعُونَ
مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ إِنۡ أَرَادَنِىَ ٱللَّهُ بِضُرٍّ هَلۡ هُنَّ كَـٰشِفَـٰتُ ضُرِّهِۦۤ أَوۡ أَرَادَنِى بِرَحۡمَةٍ هَلۡ هُنَّ مُمۡسِكَـٰتُ رَحۡمَتِهِۦۚ قُلۡ حَسۡبِىَ ٱللَّهُۖ عَلَيۡهِ يَتَوَڪَّلُ ٱلۡمُتَوَكِّلُونَ (٣٨)
And verily, if you ask them: “Who created the heavens and the earth?” Surely they will say: “Allâh (has created them).” Say: “Tell me then, the things that you invoke besides Allâh – if Allâh intended some harm for me, could they remove His harm? Or if He (Allâh) intended some mercy for me, could they withhold His Mercy?” Say: “Sufficient for me is Allâh; in Him those who trust (i.e. believers) must put their trust.” Sûrat Az-Zumar(The Groups)(39:38)
Therefore, they believed that Allaah is present and that Allaah is the creator. What they denied was that all of the worship should only be made for Allaah Alone. Therefore, they believe that Allaah is the creator, that is there, but that which they denied was that Allaah Tabarakta wa ta’ala is the only one who deserves to be worshiped. So because of this.
Points of Benefit
The Prophets the first things they began with was Tawheed, the importance of worshipping Allaah Alone, and refuting the belief of having a need of an intercessor between you and Allaah.
Is the purpose of creation, the reason why Allaah created the creation, and the reason why Allaah Tabarakta wa ta’alaa sent the books, and the reason why Allaah Tabarakta Wa ta’alaa sent the Prophets it is to Implement the Tawheed ( to single out Allaah with all forms of worship, so that you make all of your worship for Allaah alone) of Allaah Azza Wa jal
And Allaah Azza Wa jal says:
وَمَا خَلَقۡتُ ٱلۡجِنَّ وَٱلۡإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعۡبُدُونِ
And I (Allâh) created not the jinn and mankind except that they should worship Me (Alone).
Sûrat Adh Dhâriyât(The Winds that Scatter)(51:56)
Meaning that they to single out Allaah with all forms of worship, so that you make all of your worship for Allaah alone. and because of that ,the first things that is incumbent upon the individual is, in all of the religion meaning the religion in the time of Moosa alayhi sallam and the time of Adam alayhi sallam and the time of Prophet Ibraheem alayhi sallam , the first thing that was incumbent upon them is to worship Allaah alone. The foundation of the religion was the same. The foundations of all of the Prophets was the same, the legislation was different, meaning, because of that the Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam said
“Verily we are the sons of one father, but our mothers are different, meaning we(All the Prophets) are all calling to Tawheed, but our legislation in terms of actions, is different according to that which Allaah Tabarakta wa ‘ta’alaa, decrees and legislates.
It is possible that an individual might say, “How did Shirk enter upon Arab, how did it enter upon the followers of Isa alayhi sallam, The Shaykh mentioned the Shirk enter upon the people of Isa alayhi sallam through Jews, by way of this individual by name Polis (Paul).
This Paul saw that the people were correctly upon Tawheed during the time of Isa alayhi sallam, and many people were following the correct religion, when this Paul saw that he disguised himself as a follower of Isa alayhi sallam, and he entered upon the religion of Isa alayhi sallam, to destroy from within. And when he entered he introduced this new belief which is tailing and intercessor between Allaah and the worshipper, and he also introduced belief that Allaah, and he also introduced the belief of Allaah is one of three. This is how shirk entered upon the people of Isa alayhi sallam.
How Shirk Entered Upon The Arab
How did it enter upon the Arab, they were initially, were following the correct religion of Ibraheem alayhi sallam until you had an individual by name of Umar bin Utayb he was from amongst the Arab, and he would visit the areas of Sham(Siriya) when he visited the areas of Sham he became impressed by, how the people were worshipping the idols he was very impressed by this. So he purchased some idols from Sham and he brought these idols to Mecca and placed these idols in the Kaaba, and he called the people to the worshipping of these Idols. This is how Shirk came upon the, Arab , when that took place Allah subhanawata’ala sent the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam, to call these people to Tawheed, and now they became surprised How is Muhammad calling us to Tawheed worshipping Allaah alone?how does Muhammad call us to leave off the actions of our fore fathers andAllaah tabaraka wa ta’alaa mentioned their statement in the Qur’aan talking about what they used to say
أَجَعَلَ ٱلۡأَلِهَةَ إِلَـٰهً۬ا وَٲحِدًاۖ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَشَىۡءٌ عُجَابٌ۬ (٥)
“Has he made the âlihah (gods) (all) into One Ilâh (God – Allâh). Verily, this is a curious thing!”Sûrat Sâd(38):5)
So this is how Shirk came upon the Arab, and they said to themselves how does Muhammad call us to worship only one God, how is Muhammad calling us to be sincere and to leaving alone the idols, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam stayed in Mecca , calling his people to Tawheed for 13 years.
The Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam continued to call his people to Tawheed, for 13 years, The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam did not call them to different performance of Salah and zakat. Rather the Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam called them to Tawheed and that Allaah is the only one deserved to be worshipped. During this time the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam was harmed, likewise whoever entered in to Islam , they were harmed, and from the first man to believe in the Prophet sallallahu alaiyhi wasallam is was Abu Bakr Radhiyallahu anhu, and the first the first woman to belive in Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam was Khadeejah his wife and the first child to believe in the Prophet sallallahu alyhi wasallam was Ali Ibn Abee Taalib radhiyallahu anhu who was being raised during that by the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam. In addition, from the slaves, because slavery was something present at that time, the Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam had free slave, which was Zayd Ibn Haarith, and he was actually………..
