What is to be said in the morning of Yaumul-Jumu’ah (the Day of Gathering) – Imam Nawawi
A noble brother brought the below to my attention, may Allaah reward him, ameen
Imaam Al-Albani classifies the below to be “Da’eef Jiddan” and not Permissible to act upon it in Tamamul Minanh P 238 and said to be with the weak chain by Al-Hafidh in Natha’ijul Afkaar.
Taken from the book, Al-Adhkaar min Kalaami sayyidi Al-Abraar (Remembrances from the statements of the Master of the Righteous), Al-Imaam, Al-Allaamah, Al-Mujtahid, Muhyeed-Deen Abee Zakriyyaa Yahya bin Sharaf An-Nawawee, may Allah bestow His rahmah in abundance upon him.
Chapter: What is to be said in the morning of Yaumul-Jumu’ah (the Day of Gathering). Know: All that which is said on other than Yaumul-Jumu’ah… is to be said within it. Increase in abundance upon that which is desirable within it upon other than it. Increase in abundance in sending salutations upon Allah’s Messenger, may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him.
We narrate from ((the book of Ibn As-Sunnee)), from Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, may Allah’s peace and blessings upon him said:
((Whoever says (in) the morning of Yaumul-Jumu’ah before Salaatul-Ghadaah (SalaatulFajr): I seek Allah’s forgiveness, Who there is no god deserving of worship in truth, except for He, the Eternal, the Everlasting, and I repent to Him, three times (3 x)… Allah will forgive him of his dhunoob (sins), even it they were as the foam/froth of the sea)). [Sunnee 83].
Transliteration of the Du’aa, in shaa Allah:
(Astaghfirullahul-Ladhee Laa Ilaaha Illa Huwal-Hayyul-Qayyum wa Atoobu Ilayhi)
It is desirable to increase in du’aa (supplication) on Yaumul-Jumu’ah, from the entrance of Al-Fajr to the setting of the sun, hoping to attain Saa’atul-Ijaabah (the hour in which Allah answers the requests of His servants). There are differences of opinions about it, based upon a large amount of statements. So it is said: it is after the entrance of Al-Fajr, before the setting of the sun. It is said: after the entrance or appearance of the sun, and it is said: after Az-Zawaal (when the sun is in the center/middle of the sky. ie: Adh-Dhur). It is said: after Al-Asr and other than that is said.
What is correct, or rather accurate of that which is not permissible other than it – : What was affirmed in ((Saheeh Muslim)) from Abee Musa Al-Asharee, from Allah’s Messenger, may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him: ((Verily it is between the the sitting of the Imaam upon the minbar (podium or pulpit), to the tasleemus-salaah (the exiting from the prayer))). [Muslim 853]
Allah knows best.
