As-Shaikh ‘Abdullah bin ‘Abdir-Raheem al-Bukhari (hafidhahullah) narrated the story in his lecture “Trials: Its types, its causes and the stand of the Muslim from it”
Ibn ul-Qayyim (Rahimahullah) said: I and my brother – Shaikh ul-Islam – completed reciting the Quran 80 times while we were in the last prison. We then started for the 81st round until Shaikh ul-Islam reached the Aayah:
إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَنَهَرٍ ﴿٥٤﴾ فِي مَقْعَدِ صِدْقٍ عِندَ مَلِيكٍ مُّقْتَدِرٍ ﴿٥٥﴾
“Verily, the Muttaqûn (pious), will be in the midst of Gardens and rivers (Paradise). In a seat of Truth (i.e. Paradise), near the Omnipotent King (Allâh, the All-Blessed, the Most High, the Owner of Majesty and Honour).” (Soorah al-Qamar: 54-55)
And just as Shaikh ul-Islam Ibn Taimiyyah finished reciting these (last two) verses of Soorah al-Qamar, his soul was taken from him.
Shaikh ‘Abdullah al-Bukhari: O my loved ones! The actions depend on how they end. He, who dies while doing an action, is resurrected upon the same action.
