Family Matters : Rights of the Spouses – Abu Muhammad al-Maghribee [Audio|En]

Today we begin a new series regarding the Rights of the Spouses as taken from a work of our noble sheikh, the mufti Abdul-Azeez Aal ash-Shaykh entitled The Fiqh of Family and Society.

A summary of the points we will cover:

The husband and wife should know their rights and obligations
The rights that the woman has over her husband
A man living with his wife with kindness and not harming her is obligatory and not optional.
To be patient and endure the things a husband sees from his wife (and is displeased with)
Let us keep in mind that the Messenger was the best husband and example for us
The husband must take into consideration that the woman has weakness in her
The rights the husband has over his wife
A warning for the wives not to disobey their husbands in that which is permissible
The virtue and merit of a righteous wife
The virtue and merit of a wife who keeps the family together and is concerned with this
The calamity of a woman who (through her actions, statements, decisions) who seeks to destroy the family
That wisdom is the main key in finding solutions to marital problems

The Prophet (Sallalaahu alaihi wa sallam) said,

“Deen is very easy and whoever overburdens himself in his religion will not be able to continue in that way. So you should not be exaggerators, but try to be near to perfection and receive the good tidings that you will be rewarded; and gain strength by worshipping in the mornings, the nights.” (Sahih Bukhari)

This is the weekly Saturday morning class given at Masjid at-Tawheed in Stone Mountain, GA.
From the book Al-Mulakhas fee Sharh Kitaabit-Tawheed by Sheikh Saaleh al-Fawzaan.

We begin reading from the explanation of the chapter:

What Has Been Said About At-Tanjeem

Bukhari narrates in his Saheeh, that Qatadah said:

“Allah created these stars for three reasons: (i) To adorn the heaven, (ii) as missiles against the devils and (ii) as signs by which (the traveller) may be guided; and so whoever claims more than this for them has is erroneous and has lost his reward (on the Day of Resurrection) and taken upon himself that of which he has no knowledge.”

In this narration, Qatadah informs us that Allah , Most High, Created the stars for only three things: The first, to beautify the night sky; the second, as projectiles against the devils who approach the lowest heaven in order to overhear the angels speaking of the Commandments of Allah which they then attempt to convey to the fortune-tellers and soothsayers; and the third, as guidance for the wayfarer at night, whether on land or at sea. He added that anyone who claims more than this for the stars such as the claims of astrologers, that the positions of the stars and planets exert an influence on our daily lives, is acting out of ignorance, and will receive no reward from Allah on the Day of Judgement and has gone astray from the Straight Path.
