The Legislative Ruling on The Second Congregation – by Shaykh Badr ibn Muhammad al-Badr al-‘Anazy (hafidhahullah)

The following is an article written by Shaykh Badr al-Badr al-‘Anazy (hafidhahullah) which analyzes the permissibility of the second congregation, based on the ahaadeeth of the Prophet (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and explanation of our ‘Ulamaa`. The This article was translated by our noble brother Abu Afnaan Muhammad ‘Abdullah (hafidhahullah), who has explicit written permission from the Shaykh to translate his articles

An excerpt taken from the article ~

Al-Imaam Ibn al-Qudaamah mentioned in al-Mughnee (2/117): “It is not disliked to repeat the congregational prayer in the masjid. And this means that if the localimaam prays (with a group) and then another group comes, it is recommended for them to pray as a group and this is the position of Ibn Mas’ood, ‘Ataa, al-Hasan, an-Nakha’ee and others. However, Saalim, Maalik, Abu Haneefah, ash-Shaafi’ee and others stated that the congregational prayer is not repeated in a masjid which has an appointed imaam and is not on a passageway, etc. Thus, if he misses the congregation, he is to pray by himself.

There is no proof prohibiting the second congregation and that they are to pray by themselves and the hadeeth, “who will give charity to that one” is clear textual proof of its permissibility.

Some Points of Contention for The One Who Celebrates The Remembrance of Al-Israa’ and Al-Mi’raaj To Be Aware Of : Shaykh ‘Abdul Qaadir al-Junayd

 The First Point:

No authentic proof has been related affirming the specific date of al-Israa’ wal-Mi’raaj.

Al-Imaam Ibn Taymiyyah stated, as in “Zaad al Ma’ad,” 58/1: “No known proof has been established. Neither concerning its month, which part of the month it was in nor its specific date. Rather, what has been narrated related to all of this has been narrated with conflicting narrations and with discontinuous chains of narrations and thus none of them can be affirmed with surety.

● Ash-Shareef Ibn al-Ameer as-San’aanee said in “At-Tanweer”, 7710: “It is a specific night yet nothing from the authentic Sunnah has been narrated specifying when exactly it is.”

 The Second Point:

The scholars have differed concerning the time of its occurance and there are numerous opinions regarding this.

It is said that it is in Rajab. It is said that it is in Rabee al-Awwal, just as it is said it is in Rabee ath-Thaani.

It is also said that it is in Ramadhaan and it is said that it is in Shawwal. Also, it is said that it is in Dhil Qa’dah.

Some of them say it was in the begining of the month, others say the middle and others say the later part of the month.

Many of the scholars have pointed out these conflicting views:

  • From the Hanafis: al-Mulla ‘Ali Qaaree and Abu al-Fadhl al-Aloosee
  • From the Maalikis: Ibn ‘Abdil Barr and Abu ‘Abdillah al-Qurtubee
  • From the Shaafi’ees: an-Nawawee, Ibn Katheer and Ibn Hajr al-Asqalaanee
  • From the Hanbalis: Ibn al-Jawzee and al-‘Uthaymeen.

The Third Point:

The weakest position with regards to specifying (when it took place) is the position which posits that it was in the month of Rajab.

Abu al-Khattaab Ibn Dahiyah al-Maaliki stated in “Adaa mal Wajab min Bayyan Wadh’i al Waadh’iyoon fi Rajab,” pg. 110: “Some of the storytellers mention that al-Israa’ was in Rajab and according to the people of Praise and Criticism (Scholars of Hadeeth) this is without a doubt a lie.”

Also, Ibn al-‘Attar ash-Shaafi’ee mentioned in “Hukm Sawm Rajab wa Sha’baan wa Maa Ahdatha Feehima”, pg.34: “From those who considered the hadeeth of al-Israa’ and al-Mi’raaj happening on the 27th to be weak include:

  • From the Maalikis: Abu al-Khattaab al-Kalbee
  • From the Shaafi’ees: Ibn al-‘Attar, Ibn Katheer and Ibn Hajr al-Asqalaanee
  • From the Hanbalis: Ibn Taymiyyah, Ibn Rajab, Ibn Baaz and al-‘Uthaymeen.

The Fourth Point:

Celebrating the rememberance of al-Israa’ and al-Mi’raaj has not been narrated from the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم, nor his Companions, nor the Taabi’een, nor the Taabi’ at-Taabi’een, nor was it an action of the Imaams of the well known madhaahib: Abu Haneefah, Maalik, ash-Shaafi’ee or Ahmad.

The previously mentioned individuals are the example for the individual who does not celebrate al-Israa’ wal-Mi’raaj.

However, concerning the one who celebrates it, who is his example in doing such?

Without a doubt, his example is the Raafidhah Shi’a and those who follow them from the extremist Sufis!

The Fifth Point:

Whoever has the zeal and vigor to do good deeds and to increase in doing such, then let him ask himself:

“How many actions of obedience have clearly come in the Qur’aan and authentic Sunnah and I do not do them, nor do I exert myself in trying to do so?

Verily, it is shameful that I fall short and am lazy in those acts of worship which have come in the Qur’aan and authentic Sunnah, yet I exert myself in that which has neither come in the Qur’aan or authentic Sunnah, nor did the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم or his Companions who came after him do so!”

Summarized from the book “At-Tadhkeer al-Baahith bi Annhu Laa Yasihu fi Tahdeed Taareekh Haaditha al-Israa’ wal-Mi’raaj Athar wa Laa Hadeeth” by Shaykh ‘Abdul Qaadir al-Junayd.  Translated by Abu Afnaan Muhammad ‘Abdullah

Having Good Thoughts About Allah : by Shaykh ‘Abdur Razzaaq Ibn ‘Abdul Muhsin

Compilation of Tweets from the lecture, “Having Good Thoughts About Allah” by Dawud Adib (hafidhahullah)

Having good thoughts of Allah is an enormous act of worship and has a lofty position for those seeking to get close to Allah. It is one of the obligations of Tawheed; in fact, the Tawheed of the slave will not be correct except by having good assumptions of Allah

Having good assumptions of Allah brings about praiseworthy effects and beneficial fruits in this life and the next

Jaabir (radhiyAllahu ‘anhu) said, “Three days before the Messenger (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) died he said, ‘Do not allow anyone of you to die except that he is perfecting his assumptions about Allah.’”

Side Benefit: The ‘Ulamaa` pay close attention to those statements and actions of the Prophet (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) that happen close to his death by days, weeks or months because the revelation is about to cease

Having good thoughts about Allah will produce good actions; and this comes from having knowledge of Allah – one is the result of the other.

Hasan al-Basree (rahimahullah) said, “Verily, when the believer perfects his thoughts about his Rabb, he would have perfected his actions and the faajir is the one who has corrupted his thoughts of his Lord, so his actions will also be corrupted.”

Deeply reflect upon this consistent, strong connection between having good thoughts of Allah and good actions. It is based upon having good knowledge of Allah, specifically about his Lofty Names and Perfect Attributes.

If you know the Name of Allah, Al-Ghaffaar, then you have to perfect your thoughts about Him when you make istighfaar.

If you deeply ponder upon His Beautiful Name, At-Tawwaab and that Allah will accept the repentance of His servants and pardon them for their offences, then it is upon you to perfect your assumptions of Him, that He will accept your repentance regardless of what your offense is

If some of the calamities of this world or pain afflicts you, even some of those diseases that are called incurable or fatal, it is upon you to perfect your assumptions about Allah, that He is Ash-Shaafee and there is no remedy or healing except His healing.

“Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. And when I am ill, it is He who cures me; And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again)” [Soorah ash-Shu’araa` :78-81]

These aayaat indicate that Ibraaheem (‘alayhis salaam) had good thoughts about Allah. He did not attribute becoming sick to Allah as he attributed creation, guidance and sustenance to Him. He did not say “when Allah makes me ill” – he attributed this to himself

In your du’aa to Allah for the good things of this dunyaa and aakhirah, you must perfect your thoughts about Allah that He will answer you

“And your Lord said: ‘Invoke Me, I will respond to your (invocation). Verily! Those who scorn My worship will surely enter Hell in humiliation!” [Soorah Ghaafir: 60]

“And when My slaves ask you (O Muhammad) concerning Me, then (answer them), I am indeed near (to them by My Knowledge) I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me.” [Soorah al-Baqarah: 186]

Having good thoughts about Allah is from the most tremendous blessings and greatest bounties that Allah gives to whomever He wishes

Ibn Abi Dunyaa (rahimahullah) said in “Having Good Thoughts AboutAllah”: ‘Abdullah Ibn Mas’ood (radhiyAllahu ‘anhu) said, “I swear by The One Who there is none worthy of worship but Him. A believing slave has not been given anything better than having good assumptions about Allah.”

Then he (Ibn Mas’ood) said, “And I swear by the One Who there is nothing worthy of worship but Him, that there is no slave who perfects his assumption of Allah except that Allah will give him what he assumed and all of that good is in the Hand of Allah.”

It is said that whoever is more knowledgeable of Allah will be the most fearing of Him and whoever is most fearing of Him will be foremost in acts of worship and will be furthest from acts of disobedience

As Allah says, “It is only those who have knowledge among His slaves that fear Allah.” [Soorah Faatir :28]

Indeed, having good thoughts is constructed upon perfecting your knowledge and understanding of Allah. This produces good actions and obedience, and will be your share and portion of the People of Eemaan; this is a description of the People of Eemaan

The munaafiqoon and mushrikoon have no share regarding having good thoughts of Allah. In fact, they have bad thoughts of Allah

It is a sign of nifaaq and kufr to have bad thoughts of Allah because those who have bad thoughts of Him are those who do not believe in Him

“And that He may punish the Munaafiqoon, men and women, and also the Mushrikoon men and women, who think evil thoughts about Allah for them is a disgraceful torment, and the Anger of Allah is upon them, and He has cursed them and prepared Hell for them and worst indeed is that destination.” [Soorah al-Fath :6]

Thus, the scholars have said that there is no punishment mentioned in the Qur’aan more severe than that for having bad thoughts about Allah

They have bad thoughts of Allah due to their disbelief in Allah, their corrupted ‘Aqeedah and the deviation in their hearts

These tremendous benefits were taken from the lecture, “Having Good Thoughts of Allah” by Shaykh ‘Abdur Razzaaq Ibn ‘Abdul Muhsin al-‘Abbaad(hafidhahumullah)

Ashoora (10th Muharram) – Between Sunnah & Bida – Shaykh Abdullah an-Najmi [Audio|Ar-En]

Ashoora - Between Sunnah & Bida - Shaykh Abdullah an-Najmi

Bismillah wa -Alhamdulillah wa Salaatu wa Salaam ‘alaa Rasulillah ‘amma ba’d

The Noble Shaykh ‘Abdullah an-Najmi (May Allah Preserve Him) from the mashaayikh of JeezanSaudi Arabia  is a student of Ash-Shaykh Ahmad an-Najmi (rahimahullah) and Shaykh Zayd al-Madkhalee (hafidhahullah).

Ibn ‘Abbaas (radhiyAllahu ‘anhumaa) reported, “The Messenger of Allah (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam)observed Saum (fasting) on the day of ‘Ashoora and commanded us to fast on this day.” [Al-Bukhaaree and Muslim]

Abu Qatadah (radhiyAllahu ‘anhu) reported, The Messenger of Allah (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) was asked about observing As-Saum (the fast) on the tenth day of Muharram, and he replied, “It is an expiation for the sins of the preceding year.” [Muslim]

Ibn ‘Abbaas (radhiyAllahu ‘anhumaa) reported, The Messenger of Allah (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, “If I remain alive till the next year, I shall also observe fast on the ninth of Muharram.” [Muslim]

Despite these clear cut ahadeeth, there are many accursed innovations practiced on this day particularly by the Shi’a who claim to mourn the murder of al-Husayn (radhiyAllahu ‘anhu) by performing acts which blatantly oppose the Sunnah of the Messenger (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).

Reiterating this point, Shaykh Ibn Baaz (rahimahullah) stated, “Again, mourning on the Day of ‘Ashoora` is one of the condemned Bid‘ahs introduced by ar-Raafidhah, with which they contradicted Ahlus Sunnah wal-Jamaa‘ah (those adhering to the Sunnah and the Muslim main body), and the path of the Sahaabah(Companions of the Prophet). Consequently, it is not permissible to imitate them in this matter.”

Shaykh ‘Abdullah an-Najmi (hafidhahullah) will clarify for us the established Sunan of the day of ‘Ashoora`and by the Permission of Allah refute the acts of innovation associated with it according to the Qur’aan andSunnah upon on the understanding of the Salaf-us-Saalih.

We ask Allah to guide us to all that He loves and is pleased with and that He protects us from falling into innovation in the Deen.

The Story of Hajj – by Shaykh Hasan ibn AbdulWahhab al-Banna [Audio|Ar-En]

The Story of Hajj by Shaykh Hasan ibn 'AbdulWahhab al-Banna

Listen / Download Mp3 Here (Time 01:34:52)

Allah commanded our father Ibraaheem saying,

“And proclaim to mankind the Hajj (pilgrimage). They will come to you on foot and on every lean camel, they will come from every deep and distant (wide) mountain highway (to perform Hajj). [Soorah al-Hajj :27]

“And proclaim to mankind the Hajj” meaning, announce the pilgrimage to mankind and call them to perform pilgrimage to this House which We have commanded you to build. It was said that Ibraaheem said: “O Lord, how can I convey this to people when my voice will not reach them” It was said: “Call them and We will convey it.” So Ibraaheem stood up and said, “O mankind! Your Lord has established a House so come on pilgrimage to it.”

It is said that the mountains lowered themselves so that his voice would reach all the regions of the earth, and those who were still in their mothers’ wombs and their fathers’ loins would hear the call. The response came from everyone in the cities, deserts and countryside, and those whom Allah has decreed will make the pilgrimage, until the Day of Resurrection: “At Your service, O Allah, at Your service.” This is a summary of the narrations from Ibn ‘AbbaasMujaahid`IkrimahSa’id bin Jubayr and others among the Salaf. And Allah knows best. This was recorded by Ibn Jarir and by Ibn Abi Hatim at length. [Tafseer Ibn Kathir]

With the time of Hajj upon us, our Shaykh Hasan al-Banna (hafidhahullah) will enlighten us with respect to the story of Hajj according to the Book, the Sunnah and the narrations of our Salaf-us-Saalih.

We ask Allah to accept the Hajj of all our brothers and sisters and that He Al-GhafoorAr-Raheem forgives us our sins and shortcomings.

Many texts from the Qur’aan and the Sunnah indicate that these first ten days of the month of Dhul-Hijjah are better than all the other days of the year, including the last ten days of Ramadhaan. Our Salaf us Saalih(righteous predecessors), at the head of them, the Prophet (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa salaam) mentioned many of the virtues of these first ten days.

Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him and his father) reported that the Prophet (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allaah than these ten days.” The people asked, “Not even jihaad for the sake of Allaah?” He said, “Not even jihaad for the sake of Allaah, except in the case of a man who went out to fight giving himself and his wealth up for the cause, and came back with nothing.” [Reported by Bukhaari, 2/457]

Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him and his father) also reported that the Prophet (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “There is no deed more precious in the sight of Allaah, nor greater in reward, than a good deed done during the ten days of Sacrifice.” He was asked, “Not even jihaad for the sake of Allaah?” He said, “Not even jihaad for the sake of Allaah, except in the case of a man who went out to fight giving himself and his wealth up for the cause, and came back with nothing.” [Reported by al-Daarimi, 1/357; its isnaad is hasan as stated in al-Irwaa’, 3/398]

These are just two of the many evidences mentioned by our Shaykh Fu’ad al-‘Amri (hafidhahullaah) in this highly beneficial reminder

Allah, the Most High said,

“And do not kill those souls whom Allah has prohibited except with a due right.”

And those souls that Allah has prohibited, it is referring to the life of a Muslim. And it is referring to everyone who has an agreement with the Muslims, and likewise those non-Muslims who have been given the right of safety by the Muslims.

The Messenger (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said in an authentic hadeeth reported by Imaam al-Bukhaari,

“Whoever kills a non-Muslim who has an agreement with the Muslims then he will not smell the fragrance of Paradise.”

The Esteemed Scholar Shaykh ‘Abdul Lateef al-Kurdi (hafidhahullah) will clarify this crucial issue for us such that there will remain no doubt regarding the Islaamic stance on these abominable acts.

We ask AllahAl-Haqq to show us the Truth and make it easy for us to follow it and make clear to us falsehood so we may stay away from it.

Extremism In The Religion: Its Aspects, Reasons and The Cure From The Sunnah – by Shaykh Khalid ibn AbdurRahmaan al-Misree[Audio|Ar-En]

Extremism In The Religion - Its Aspects, Reasons and The Cure From The Sunnah by Shaykh Khalid ibn 'AbdurRahmaan al-Misree

Listen / Download Mp3 Here (Time 01:08:51)

Allaah (Ta ‘alaa) says in the Qur’aan,

“O People of the Scripture, do not go to extremes in your religion and do not speak except the truth.” [Soorah an-Nisaa: 171]

“Say: O People of the Scripture, do not go to extremes in your religion beyond the truth and do not follow the inclinations of a people who had gone astray before – they misled many and themselves strayed from the correctness of the way.” [Soorah al-Maa’idah:77]

“In both of these verses there is a forbiddance for the “people of the scripture” – the jews and christians – from going to extremes in religion. And every statement in the noble Qur’aan directed towards the people of the scripture also includes this nation (the Muslims) because it is this nation that is the primary recipient and addressee of this book. So when Allaah forbids them from going to extremes, we are even more so forbidden to go to extremes.”

Additionally, it was narrated by ‘Abdullaah Ibn ‘Abbaas (radhiyAllaahu ‘anhu) that the Prophet (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said,

“Beware of extremism in religion because the only thing that destroyed those before you was extremism in religion.” [An-Nasaa’ee and Ibn Maajah]

Moreover, ‘Abdullaah Ibn Masood ( radhiyAllaahu ‘anhu ) said: Allaah’s Messenger (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) repeated three times:

“The Mutanatti’oon are destroyed.” [Muslim]

An-Nawawee (rahimahullaah) explains, “The Mutanatti’oon are the overly-strict people; those who go too deep (into religious matters), the extremists, those who go beyond the permissible limits in their statements and actions.” [“The Forbiddance and Danger of Extremism” by Shaykh ‘Ali Ibn Yahya al-Haddaadi from AbdurRahman. org]

The Noble Shaykh Khalid ‘Abdur Rahmaan al-Misree (hafidhahullaah) will admonish us regarding this grave matter of extremism in the religion and expound on its aspects, reasons and the cure for this disease from the pure Sunnah of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).

We ask Allaah to make us from those who are balanced; those who neither fall into negligence nor exceed the limits.

Allaah says in His Book,

“Say: Are they equal, those who have knowledge and those who do not? But only the men of understanding will take admonition.” [Soorah Zumar 39:9]

Allaah will raise up in degrees those of you who believe and those who have been granted knowledge.”
[Soorah al-Mujaadalah 58:11].

“It is only those who possess knowledge amongst His slaves that fear Allaah
[Soorah Faatir 35:28].

The Prophet (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) asserted,

“The superiority of the scholar over the worshiper is like that of the moon over the rest of the stars.”
[Abu Dawood and Tirmidhee]

Thus, those who have also been described as the ‘inheritors of the prophets’ by our Noble Messenger(sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) hold an honourable and lofty station in the deen of Islaam. They are those who clarify the affairs of the religion to us and teach us that which will aid us in this life and the next. Therefore, it is incumbent upon us to recognize this high rank of theirs and give them their due right and not fall short in this matter.

Imaam Ahmad (rahimahullaah) beautifully described the reality of the scholars in the following,

“All Praise is for Allaah Who, in every age and interval between the Prophets, raises up a group from the People of Knowledge who call the misguided to guidance and patiently bear ill-treatment and harm. With the Book of Allaah they give life to the dead, and by Allaah’s light they give sight to the blind. How many a person killed by iblees have they revived. How many people astray and wandering have they guided. How beautiful their effect has been upon the people, and how vile people have been towards them. They repel from the Book of Allaah the alterations of those going beyond bounds, the false claims of the liars and the false interpretations of the ignorant ones-those who uphold the banner of innovation and let loose the trials and discords.” [Ar-Radd ‘alal-Jahmiyyah waz-Zanaadiqah of Imaam Ahmad ibn Hanbal]

Our Shaykh ‘Abdur Rahmaan al-Adani (hafidhahullaah) will admonish us regarding this affair and by the Permission of Allaah cause us to truly understand and respect the honourable status of our scholars.

We ask Allaah to grant us beneficial knowledge and to place in our hearts sincere love for the ‘ulamaa` ofAhlus-Sunnah.

The Importance of Returning To The Scholars in Times of Fitnah – Shaykh Muhammad Ramzaan al-Haajiree [Audio|Ar-En]

The Importance of Returning To The Scholars in Times of Fitnah by Shaykh Muhammad Ramzaan al-Haajiree

Listen / Download Mp3 Here (Time 19:31)

From the very nature of fitnah (trial and discord) is that matters become confused, mistakes increase, and minds and intellects begin to swerve. Protection and safety from this, in such times lies in the Jamaa’ah; at the head of which are the scholars. So it is obligatory upon the people – those leading and those being led – to take hold of the sayings of the Scholars and to act upon them. Since the general masses are pre-occupied with issues of fitnah, wherein they begin to express their own opinions, only leads to an increase in the fitnah and further splits the Ummah. So the umoorul-‘aammah (affairs pertaining to public benefit and welfare) – from the matters related to peace, security and fear – should be referred back to those who possess sound knowledge and understanding, as Allah, The Most High  has said,

“When there comes to them some matter related to public welfare of security or fear, they make it known amongst the people. If they had referred it back to the Messenger (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), or to those in authority amongst them, then the proper people would have investigated and evaluated the matter from them. Were it not for the Grace and Mercy of Allah upon you, you would have indeed followed Shaytaan – except for a few of you.” [Soorah an-Nisaa: 83]

Imaam as-Sa’dee (d.1376H) – rahimahullah –said,

“This is the disciplinary admonition from Allah to His Servants with regards to their unbefitting action. And it is a must for them, that when there comes to them some news concerning important issues such as issues connected to public welfare and safety of the Believers, or those that are related to breach of security, or fear of a calamity befalling them, that they should first verify such news and not be hasty in spreading it. Rather, they should refer such issues back to the Messenger (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and to the people in authority; those who possess knowledge, understanding, sound advice, intellect, maturity and composure; those who understand the affairs and have knowledge of the associated benefits and harms. If they see that in broadcasting it there is a benefit and a cause of happiness for the Believers, and a means of protection from their enemies, then they should do so. This is why Allah said: “Then the proper people would have investigated and evaluated the matter from them.” Meaning: they would evaluate it with their sound understanding and their firm and correct knowledge. So in this is an evidence for an important principle, which is, if there arises a need to investigate a particular issue, then it is obligatory that it be left to those who are qualified for it, and no one should precede them in this – and this is close to what is correct, and safer from error. And in this is also a prohibition of being hasty and impatient in spreading the news as soon as they hear it. Likewise there is a command to reflect and consider before speaking, so he looks into it to see if there is a benefit in doing so, if so he embarks upon it, and if not, he abstains from it.”

Ebook: The Guidance of the Companions With Regards To The People Of Innovation – Shaykh Muhammad Ramzaan

The Guidance of the Companions With Regards To The People Of Innovation – Shaykh Muhammad Ramzaan

A beautiful and comprehensive explanation delivered by Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Ramzaan al-Haajiree (May Allah Preserve Him) expounding on the guidance of the Companions in dealing with the people of innovation. Herein the Shaykh presents some lofty benefits and salient points of contemplation from the hadith of Ibn Mas’ood and the people in dhikr circles, thus clarifying the approach of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaa’ah regarding the people of innovation.

This treatise was translated and compiled by Abu Afnaan Muhammad ‘Abdullah (May Allah Preserve him) with the explicit permission and approval of Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Ramzaan al-Haajiree.

An excerpt taken from the chapter: The Person of Innovation in The Religion is Not Granted The Success To Repent

“Can a person of bid’ah come back? (The answer is) he sees himself as being upon the truth and the correct position, and believes that he is getting closer to Allah by practicing these forms of bid’ah. For this reason, the person of bid’ah is not granted success to make repentance. Why is this? This is because he does not consider himself as being wrong in the first place, unlike the person who engages in sins. Because the latter, even while he is engaging in sins or acts of disobedience, he knows within himself that he is doing something wrong, he wants to make repentance. However, the person who is upon bid’ah believes that he is doing a righteous action (bringing him closer to Allah), so how can he make repentance?”

The following Ebook was transcribed from a tele-lecture by ash-Shaykh Muhammad ibn Rabee’ al-Madkhalee (حفظه اللهhosted by Muwahhideen Publications on 9th August 2012 entitled, “The Virtue and Excellence of the Last Ten Nights of Ramadhaan.”

Herein, the Shaykh discusses pertinent matters related to Taraweeh, Laylatul Qadr, the last ten night of Ramadhaan in general and other salient points of benefit.

~ An excerpt taken from the Ebook ~

“Dear brothers, this is going to be the last part of this phone lecture and we really need more action than statements. From the wisdom of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, is that He has hidden the Night of Decree from us and we do not know exactly when it is going to be in the last ten in the month of Ramadhaan. And He سبحانه وتعالى told His Prophet صلّى اللَّهُ عليه وسلّم exactly when it would be and when the Prophet صلّى اللَّهُ عليه وسلّم went out to his Companions to tell them exactly when the Night of Decree will be, he found two of the Muslims arguing with one another, asking him to judge between them so he became busy with their affair and was made to forget exactly which night is the Night of Decree in the last ten of Ramadhaan. This in itself indicates and shows us how bad it is to disagree with one another and how bad it is to fight amongst the Muslims, so much so that Allahسبحانه وتعالىtook away the knowledge of the exact day of Laylatul Qadr in the last ten. That is one way of looking at it.”

The Means of Increasing One’s Eemaan – Shaykh Khalid ‘Uthmaan al-Misree [Audio|Ar-En]

The Means of Increasing One's Eemaan by Shaykh Khalid 'Uthmaan al-Misree

Listen / Download Mp3 Here (Time 59:17)

On the authority of ‘Abdullaah Ibn ‘Amr al-‘Aas, The Messenger of Allaah (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said,

“Indeed Eemaan is worn out inside one of you just like a thawb (garment) is worn out, so ask Allaah to revive Eemaan in your hearts.”

The lofty rank and high station eemaan possesses is not something obscure, as it is unquestionably the most important duty as well as being the most imperative of all obligations. It is also the greatest and most glorious of them. All the good in the world and the Hereafter is dependent upon the presence of eemaan and on its soundness and integrity.

Eemaan holds such a multitude of benefits, ripe fruits, delicious produce, constant food and continual goodness.

It is within this context that those certain folk embarked upon and competed with each other in directing their attention to trying to actualize and fulfill eemaan. For the Muslim who is granted the tawfeeq, his concern for his eemaan is greater than any other concern he may have – and this must be so. When this became evident to the Salaf of this Ummah, the first and best of this Ummah, their concern for their eemaan was very eminent and the attention they gave to it was enormous.

They, may Allaah be pleased and have mercy upon them, used to tend to their eemaan, inspect their actions, and give each other advice. Reports of this nature from the Salaf are numerous. Some of their statements include:

‘Umar Ibn al-Khattaab (radhiyAllaahu ‘anhu) used to say to his companions: “Come on, so that we may increase our eemaan”.

Aboo Dardaa’(radhiyAllaahu ‘anhu) used to say: “It is from the intelligence of the servant to know whether he is increasing or decreasing, and indeed, it is from the intelligence of the servant to know how, where and when the whispers of shaytaan appear to him.”

‘Abdur-Rahmaan Ibn ‘Amr al-Awzaa’ee (rahimahullaah) was asked about eemaan: “Does it increase?” He replied, “Yes, until it becomes like mountains. He was then asked, “Does it decrease?” He answered, “Yes, up until there is nothing left of it.” [Causes Behind the Increase and Decrease of Eemaan by Shaykh ‘Abdur-Razzaak al-‘Abbaad from AbdurRahman. org]

Thus, it can be seen that the matter of eemaan is a tremendous affair, which each one of us must pay close attention to.

Our Shaykh Khalid ‘Uthmaan (hafidhahullaah) will admonish us concerning this crucial topic and explain to us the ways in which we can increase our eemaan and by the Permission of Allaah we will all act upon the advices offered and thus have our eemaan renewed and increased.

We ask Allaah to grant us all lasting eemaan, true certainty and beneficial knowledge.

Refutation of The Statement, “The First ‘Adhaan of Jumu’ah is A Bid’a” – Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan [Video|Ar-En Subtitles]

Video Courtesy: MuwahhideenPubs

A refutation of the statement that the first ‘adhaan of jumu’ah introduced by the third rightly guided caliph, ‘Uthmaan ibn Affaan (Radhi ‘Allahu ‘anhu), is a bida’ (religious innovation). The Shaykh mentions that this statement in itself is a bida’, and that who says this does not know the sunnah from bida’!

The Signs of The People of Innovation – Shaykh Khalid adh-Dhufayree [Audio|Ar-En]

The Signs of The People of Innovation by Shaykh Khalid adh-Dhufayree

The Shaykh (May Allaah preserve him) is well known to the major scholars and studied with several of them, including Shaykh Rabee’ ibn Hadi al-Madkhalee and Shaykh ‘Ubayd al-Jaabiree (May Allaah preserve them). He is highly recommended, specifically, by Shaykh Rabee’ al-Madkhalee (May Allaah preserve him). TheShaykh delivered an extremely beautiful lecture full of athaar (narrations from the salaf). He expounded on many of the signs and characteristics of the people of innovation.

Throughout history, the ways of the people of innovation has been apparent to the scholars of Ahl Sunnah wal Jama’ah; however, in our time, the ability to distinguish  haqq (truth) from baatil (falsehood) has become unclear to most muslims, especially since many of the innovators and deviant groups use clever ways to penetrate the hearts and minds of the people of the Sunnah, like labeling themselves with praiseworthy descriptions such as salafi, athari and ahl-hadeeth etc., when they are the furthest from the methodology of the salaf-us-saalih (righteous predecessors)Alhamdulillah we have the people of knowledge, who have not been deceived by these tactics but have the insight into the tell tale signs of the people of innovation. With the aid of our scholars, who equip us with the necessary tools to recognize these people, we can steer clear of their misguidance and be on guard against their infiltration amongst our ranks. The noble Shaykh Khalid ibn Dhawi adh-Dhufayree (May Allaah preserve him) elaborated on several of their characteristics and exposed some of their deceptive ways. The Shaykh detailed some of the major signs of the people of innovation, as their signs are plenty, with a focus on the more apparent groups and personalities from amongst the people of innovation, like the khawarij and their spokesmen in our recent times ‘Abdullaah Azaam and Sayid Qutb. MayAllaah, Al-Haqq show us the truth and make it easy for us to follow it and show us the falsehood and make it easy for us to distance ourselves from it.
