In the lecture titled: The Danger of ISIS upon the Muslim Ummah – 11-03-1436 – Riyadh – Shaykh Muhammad bin Ramzaan al-Haajiree
The Shaykh (حفظه الله تعالى) told us a story of a young man. He was a person who was involved in sinning.
He said: Normally when a person lives a life like this as soon as be becomes religious, if he lived previously in sin he wants to find the shortest or quickest path to Paradise. And this individual arrived and sat in their localities. He was their in their gatherings for 14 day. One of the big players from them approached him and said: ‘Ma shaa Allah, Allah has chosen you for a mission to go and blow yourself up.’
This individual said: ‘What?’
The big player said: ‘We’ll put an explosive vest and you will go in the midst of these people and blow yourself up killing the kuffar and the apostates.’
The Shaykh (حفظه الله تعالى) said: They make takfeer for everything!
This individual said: ‘I want Jihaad, I want to fight. I shoot them they shoot me, back and forth, we trade fire, this is what I want. Blowing myself up…’
The response of the big player was: ‘Allah has chosen you to be a martyr for shahadah (martyrdom)!’
This individual said: ‘I just came, 14 days.’ He then asked the big player: ‘How long have you been in Jihaad for?’
The response of the big player was: ‘I have been in Jihaad for 14 years, when the Americans first came in to Iraaq…’
This individual said: ’14 years and Allah hasn’t chosen you and 14 days and Allah has chosen me…’
When the leader saw the response of this young man in front of everybody. He said: ‘OK, the affair goes back to you, but we are going to consult amongst us and we will give you the final answer at Maghrib time.’
This individual he recants after he escaped from them. He knew that the Maghrib time meant that they were going to kill him at Maghrib time. They would say that you have apostated from Islam and kill him like this. Simple as that!
The Shaykh (حفظه الله تعالى) said: ‘Cold blooded murder!’
The Shaykh (حفظه الله تعالى) said: ‘This young man saw them previously saw that they did this to some of the young men there.’
This individual said: ‘I’m dead either way. If I waited till Maghrib I’m dead. If I die on the way trying to escape, either way I am going to die!’
So he found an individual who knew somebody that he knew and this individual understood his circumstances and made easy for him an escape route.
The Shaykh (حفظه الله تعالى) said: ‘And of course he had no paperwork, because when he came he came as a mujahid wanting Paradise so he ripped up all of his paperwork. Once he reached the border with Turkey, there were individuals who came from the Saudi Embassy and spoke to this individual and now he is being advised…’

Shaykh Muhammad Ramzan al-Hājirī, may Allah protect him from every kind of harm, said: A legacy for myself and everyone [to hold on to:]
Al-Fudhayl ibn ‘Iyaadh, may Allah have mercy on him, said:
The sign of not being attached (zuhd) to the [life of this] world and to people is that you do not love people praising you and that you do not worry about their criticisms; and if you were able to avoid being known [to people], do [that]; and it is not to be held against you that you are unknown; and it is not to be held against you that you receive no acclaim; and it is not to be held against you that you are criticized by people, if you were someone praised by Allāh.

Shaykh Ahmad an-Najmi -Rahimhullah Rahmatin Waseeyah- said about Shaykh Muhammad bin Ramzaan Al-Haajiree:
“He is from the heads of Ahl AlSunnah.”
Similarly in the report of Naif Al-Mutairi – one of the Shaykh’s students- mentioned:
I narrate to you a conversation of one our brothers who telephoned Sheikh Ubaid Al-Jaabiree -may Allaah protect him- seeking a fatwa about an issue. And the Sheikh (Al-Jabiree) was busy, so he asked our brother, “Where are you from?” He said, “From Al-Jubail.” So the Shaykh (Al-Jabiree) said, “With you is Muhammad Ibn Ramzan, so call him and ask him.”

From the very nature of fitnah (trial and discord) is that matters become confused, mistakes increase, and minds and intellects begin to swerve. Protection and safety from this, in such times lies in the Jamaa’ah; at the head of which are the scholars. So it is obligatory upon the people – those leading and those being led – to take hold of the sayings of the Scholars and to act upon them. Since the general masses are pre-occupied with issues of fitnah, wherein they begin to express their own opinions, only leads to an increase in the fitnah and further splits the Ummah. So the umoorul-‘aammah (affairs pertaining to public benefit and welfare) – from the matters related to peace, security and fear – should be referred back to those who possess sound knowledge and understanding, as Allah, The Most High has said,
“When there comes to them some matter related to public welfare of security or fear, they make it known amongst the people. If they had referred it back to the Messenger (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), or to those in authority amongst them, then the proper people would have investigated and evaluated the matter from them. Were it not for the Grace and Mercy of Allah upon you, you would have indeed followed Shaytaan – except for a few of you.” [Soorah an-Nisaa: 83]
Imaam as-Sa’dee (d.1376H) – rahimahullah –said,
“This is the disciplinary admonition from Allah to His Servants with regards to their unbefitting action. And it is a must for them, that when there comes to them some news concerning important issues such as issues connected to public welfare and safety of the Believers, or those that are related to breach of security, or fear of a calamity befalling them, that they should first verify such news and not be hasty in spreading it. Rather, they should refer such issues back to the Messenger (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and to the people in authority; those who possess knowledge, understanding, sound advice, intellect, maturity and composure; those who understand the affairs and have knowledge of the associated benefits and harms. If they see that in broadcasting it there is a benefit and a cause of happiness for the Believers, and a means of protection from their enemies, then they should do so. This is why Allah said: “Then the proper people would have investigated and evaluated the matter from them.” Meaning: they would evaluate it with their sound understanding and their firm and correct knowledge. So in this is an evidence for an important principle, which is, if there arises a need to investigate a particular issue, then it is obligatory that it be left to those who are qualified for it, and no one should precede them in this – and this is close to what is correct, and safer from error. And in this is also a prohibition of being hasty and impatient in spreading the news as soon as they hear it. Likewise there is a command to reflect and consider before speaking, so he looks into it to see if there is a benefit in doing so, if so he embarks upon it, and if not, he abstains from it.”
[Tayseerul-Kareemur-Rahmaan (2/54-55). Refer also to Qawaa’id fee Ta’aamul ma’il-‘Ulemaa (p.121)]
Thus, we understand that it is absolutely imperative for us to take recourse in the Book of Allah and theSunnah of His Messenger (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) in these times of great fitnah. Our Shaykh Muhammad Ramzaan (hafidhahullah) will offer a timely admonition concerning the grand importance we must place on returning to the Scholars, who are the Inheritors of the Prophets, in these times of innumerable trials and tribulations.
We ask Allah to keep our feet firm upon the Straight Path and we seek refuge in Him from ever deviating from it.

A beautiful and comprehensive explanation delivered by Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Ramzaan al-Haajiree (May Allah Preserve Him) expounding on the guidance of the Companions in dealing with the people of innovation. Herein the Shaykh presents some lofty benefits and salient points of contemplation from the hadith of Ibn Mas’ood and the people in dhikr circles, thus clarifying the approach of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaa’ah regarding the people of innovation.
This treatise was translated and compiled by Abu Afnaan Muhammad ‘Abdullah (May Allah Preserve him) with the explicit permission and approval of Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Ramzaan al-Haajiree.
An excerpt taken from the chapter: The Person of Innovation in The Religion is Not Granted The Success To Repent
“Can a person of bid’ah come back? (The answer is) he sees himself as being upon the truth and the correct position, and believes that he is getting closer to Allah by practicing these forms of bid’ah. For this reason, the person of bid’ah is not granted success to make repentance. Why is this? This is because he does not consider himself as being wrong in the first place, unlike the person who engages in sins. Because the latter, even while he is engaging in sins or acts of disobedience, he knows within himself that he is doing something wrong, he wants to make repentance. However, the person who is upon bid’ah believes that he is doing a righteous action (bringing him closer to Allah), so how can he make repentance?”
