Imam Al-Nawawi’s Riyad-us-Saliheen : Chapter 226
The Excellence of As-Saum (The Fast) during the first ten Days of Dhul-Hijjah

Ibn `Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, “There are no days during which the righteous action is so pleasing to Allah than these days (i.e., the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah).” He was asked: “O Messenger of Allah, not even Jihad in the Cause of Allah?” He (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) replied, “Not even Jihad in the Cause of Allah, except in case one goes forth with his life and his property and does not return with either of it.” [Al-Bukhari].

Imam Al-Nawawi’s Riyad-us-Saliheen : Chapter 227
The Excellence of Observing Saum on the Day of ‘Arafah, ‘Ashura’ and Tasu’a (i.e., 9th of Muharram)

Abu Qatadah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) was asked about the observance of Saum (fasting) on the day of `Arafah. He said, “It is an expiation for the sins of the preceding year and the current year.” [Muslim].

The first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah are the best and most virtuous days of the year. They are the days in which Allaah the Mighty and Majestic – most loves the doing of good deeds. About this the Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, “The best days in the world are the ten days.” [1]

Imaam Ibnul-Qayyim (d.751H) – rahimahullaah – said, “Indeed, its days are the most excellent of all the days with Allaah. And it has been confirmed in Saheehul-Bukhaaree (2/382), from Ibn ’Abbaas (radiyallaahu ’anhumaa) who said, that Allaah’s Messenger (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, “There ore no days during which good deeds are more beloved to Allaah than these (ten) days.” He was then asked, ‘Not even jihaad in the path of Allaah?’ So he replied, “Not even jihaad in the path of Allaah, except for a person who goes out with his self and his wealth, and comes back with nothing.” And it is these ten days that Allaah has taken an oath by in His Book, by His saying,

By the Dawn and by the Ten Nights. [Sooratul-Fajr 89:1-2]

This is why it is recommended to increase in making takbeer (saying Allaahu akbar), tahleel (saying Laa ilaaha illallaah) and tamheed (saying Alhamdulillaah) during these days …”[2]

The Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, “There are no days that are greater with Allaah, and in which good deeds are more beloved to Him, than these ten days. So increase in making tasbeeh (saying Subhaanallaah), tamheed, tahleel and takbeer, during them.”[3]

Sending Salutations Upon The Prophet ﷺ On Jumu’ah (a forgotten Sunnah) – Dawood Burbank [Audio Clip|En]

The authentic hadeeth that mentions that it has not been restricted to the day time of Jumuah but rather there is a authentic hadeeth reported by Anas radhiyallahu anhu, Allah’s messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said “Be plentiful in sending salat upon me on the day of Jumuah and on the night of Jumu’ah i.e the night before Jumuah, so whoever sends a single salat upon me then Allah will send salat upon him ten times over”. Hadeeth reported by Bayhaqi. Declared as saheeh by sheikh albani in his saheeha no.1407.

As for the explanation of Sheikh Muhammed Bin Salih al-Uthaymeen rahimahullah, then he said – as a regard to this hadeeth and from that which is specific to the day of Jumuah is sending abundant salat upon the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and there is no doubt that the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is the one after the whole creation who has the greatest of rights upon us. His rights upon us are greater than the rights of our own selves upon ourselves. And therefore, it is obligatory to give precedence to love him of our love of oneself and one’s child and one’s father and one’s mother and one’s wife and all of mankind. And it is not possible for your eman to be complete unless you give precedence to love of the messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam over love of everyone, every person

And from his right upon you is that you should be abundant in sending salat and salam upon him. And he is not in actually any need of your salat and your salam but rather you are in need of the reward of the salat and salam because you if you send salat upon the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam a single time then Allah will send salat upon you on account of it ten times over. So, if you say “Allahumma salli ala Muhammad” “O Allah extol Muhammed and Allah will extol you ten times over”. So, you are the one in need of that and the messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is not in need of it.

And he said: However, what is the meaning of salat upon the messenger? and we say “Allahumma salli alaa Muhammad” then many of us do not know the meaning of this phrase. What is the meaning of the saying “Allahumma salli ala Muhammad”? “O Allah send salat upon Muhammed. He said Abul-Aaliya rahimahullah mentions that he said that the salat of Allah upon his prophet means he’s praising him, he’s extoling him to the highest company of angels. He praises him saying “my servant so and so has such and such” and He mentions praiseworthy qualities. So, if you send salat upon the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam then Allah will extol you ten times over. So, it is upon you to be abundant and sending salat and salam upon Allah’s messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam on the day of Jumuah and at every time.

They (the disbelievers, the Jews and the Christians) want to extinguish Allâh’s Light (with which Muhammad (Sallallaahu alaihi wa Sallam) has been sent – Islâmic Monotheism) with their mouths, but Allâh will not allow except that His Light should be perfected even though the Kâfirûn (disbelievers) hate (it).(At-Tawbah 9:32)

It is He Who has sent His Messenger (Muhammad Sallallaahu alaihi wa Sallam ) with guidance and the religion of truth (Islâm), to make it superior over all religions even though the Mushrikûn (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh) hate (it). (At-Tawbah 9:33)

From Tafsir Ibn Kathir 9:32-33

Allah says, the disbelieving idolators and People of the Scriptures want to,

(extinguish the Light of Allah). They try through argument and lies to extinguish the guidance and religion of truth that the Messenger of Allah was sent with. Their example is the example of he who wants to extinguish the light of the sun or the moon by blowing at them! Indeed, such a person will never accomplish what he sought. Likewise, the light of what the Messenger was sent with will certainly shine and spread.

Allah replied to the idolators’ desire and hope,

(but Allah will not allow except that His Light should be perfected even though the disbelievers (Kafirun) hate (it)) (9:32).(Linguistincally) a Kafir is the person who covers something. For instance, night is called Kafiran (covering) because it covers things (with darkness). The farmer is called Kafiran, because he covers seeds in the ground. Allah said in an Ayah, (thereof the growth is pleasing to the (Kuffar) tillers) (57:20).

Allah said next, (It is He Who has sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth.) `Guidance’ refers to the true narrations, beneficial faith and true religion that the Messenger came with. `religion of truth’ refers to the righteous, legal deeds that bring about benefit in this life and the Hereafter.

(to make it (Islam) superior over all religions) It is recorded in the Sahih that the Messenger of Allah said,

(Allah made the eastern and western parts of the earth draw near for me (to see), and the rule of my Ummah will extend as far as I saw.) Imam Ahmad recorded from Tamim Ad-Dari that he said, “I heard the Messenger of Allah saying,

(This matter (Islam) will keep spreading as far as the night and day reach, until Allah will not leave a house made of mud or hair, but will make this religion enter it, while bringing might to a mighty person (a Muslim) and humiliation to a disgraced person (who rejects Islam). Might with which Allah elevates Islam (and its people) and disgrace with which Allah humiliates disbelief (and its people).)(Tamim Ad-Dari ﴿ who was a Christian before Islam﴾ used to say, “I have come to know the meaning of this Hadith in my own people. Those who became Muslims among them acquired goodness, honor and might. Disgrace, humiliation and Jizyah befell those who remained disbelievers.”

Our Shaykh ‘Ubayd al-Jaabiree (hafidhahullaah) started off by making du’a that Allaah, The Lord of The Mighty Throne complete this month for us, keep us upon the Straight Path and keep us upon rushing to do what is good and racing one another in all permissible actions for as long as we live.

Though short, the Shaykh’s talk was full of much benefit. He spoke about the virtues of the last ten of Ramadhaan and the superiority of the last ten nights in particular. He went on to mention some benefits from the tafseer of Suraat al-Qadr, encouraging us to seek out that precious night i.e Laylatul Qadr and narrated to us that due to the eminence of this night, some of the salaf would make ghusl, wear their best clothing and perfume themselves in anticipation of it

Next he touched on some of the intricacies of Zakaatul Fitr and went on to explain the reasons for its various names. The Shaykh also addressed the important issue of giving Zakaatul Fitr in the form of money and its ruling according to the Shari’ah.

The lecture continued with the Shaykh explaining the matters of the etiquettes of ‘Eid and Zakaatul Fitr.

Why are Women The Majority of The Hellfire by Shaykh 'Adil as-Sayyid

For Masjid ul Khaleefah Sister’s Camp 2012, “The Journey of The Muslimah: Her Life, Her Death and Hereafter,” Muwahhideen Publications has organized a LIVE telelink lecture with the noble Shaykh ‘Adil as-Sayyid (May Allaah Preserve Him), from the mashayikh of Egypt. The Shaykh is very highly recommended by Shaykh Hasan ibn Abdul-Wahhab al-Banna (May Allaah preserve him) and was referred by him as a mufassir (explainer of The Quraan using the science of tafseer).

Listen to Shaykh Hasan ibn Abdul-Wahhab al-Banna (May Allaah preserve him) on Shaykh ‘Adil as-Sayyid (May Allaah preserve him) here: http://youtu.be/5EwxTdJAQUE

The Messenger of Allaah (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, “I looked at paradise and found poor people forming the majority of its inhabitants; and I looked at Hell and saw that the majority of its inhabitants were women.” (Bukhari). This is further explained in another hadeeth in saheeh al-Bukhariwhere he (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, “They are ungrateful to their companions (husbands) and ungrateful for good treatment. If you are kind to one of them for a lifetime then she sees one (undesirable) thing in you, she will say, ‘I have never had anything good from you.'” This hadeeth is very often misunderstood by the muslimeen with weak eeman and no firmly grounded fundamentals. Many times it is misquoted by the enemies of Islaam in their feeble attempts to attack and degrade the social and moral fiber of this beautiful, complete and perfect religion. It is also very unfortunate that even so-called muslim contemporary scholars, modernists and orientalists have wrongly interpreted and explained this narration, in such a way as to add fuel to the enemies of Islaam. Our Shaykh , the mufassir (explainer of the Quraan) will expound on this narration, bringing forth the correct explainations within the framework of theQuraan and Sunnah upon the understanding of the salaf us saalih (righteous predecessors). inshaaAllaah ta’alaa.

Based on Sheikh Fawzaan‘s explanation of Hadith #24 in An-Nawawee’s collection of 40 Hadith; On the authority of Abu Dharr (radiAllaahu anhu) from the Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) from his Lord (‘azza wa jall) that He said:

O My servants ! I have forbidden dhulm (oppression) for Myself, and I have made it forbidden amongst you, so do not oppress one another…. (Hadeeth Qudsi)

Sheikh Fawzaan mentioned three types of dhulm (oppression);

1. Dhulm (oppression) between a servant and his Lord – Shirk
2. Dhulm (oppression) between a servant and his nafs (own self) – Base Desires and Sins
3. Dhulm (oppression) between one person and others

Some Notes

Those who believe and do not mix their faith with Dhulm, these are the ones for whom there is faith, and they are rightly guided.” [Sooratul An’aam][Here Dhulm – to associate partners with Allaah.]

Avoid oppression, because oppression will result in deep darkness on the Day of Ressurection.” [Recorded by Muslim and others]

Avoid the oppressed’s supplication (against you), even if he was a kafir, because there is no barrier in its way (to Allah).” [Recorded by Ahmed, Abu Ya’la , and others. Verified to be hasan by al-Albani as sahih no 767 and sahih ul-jami no 119]

Whoever has oppressed his brother in regard to his honor or property should beg for his forgiveness today – before it will be taken from him on a day when there will be no dinars or dirhams: If he has good deeds, some of them will be taken to the amount of his oppression; and if he has no good deeds, some of his (oppressed) companion’s sins will be taken and loaded upon him.” [Recorded by al-Bukhari and Ahmed]
