Part 02: In this class we continue with the rulings of the janaaiz (funerals). In this section the sheikh explains the etiquette of visiting the sick; how to encourage them, how to bring them joy. The sheikh, hafidhahullah, also explains the forbiddance of seeking medicine and cures in impermissible things (such as alcohol) and through matters that go against our creed (such as magic and soothsayers). He also discusses the ruling of reciting Surat Yaaseen upon the dying person.

Family Matters : Rights of the Spouses – Abu Muhammad al-Maghribee [Audio|En]

Today we begin a new series regarding the Rights of the Spouses as taken from a work of our noble sheikh, the mufti Abdul-Azeez Aal ash-Shaykh entitled The Fiqh of Family and Society.

A summary of the points we will cover:

The husband and wife should know their rights and obligations
The rights that the woman has over her husband
A man living with his wife with kindness and not harming her is obligatory and not optional.
To be patient and endure the things a husband sees from his wife (and is displeased with)
Let us keep in mind that the Messenger was the best husband and example for us
The husband must take into consideration that the woman has weakness in her
The rights the husband has over his wife
A warning for the wives not to disobey their husbands in that which is permissible
The virtue and merit of a righteous wife
The virtue and merit of a wife who keeps the family together and is concerned with this
The calamity of a woman who (through her actions, statements, decisions) who seeks to destroy the family
That wisdom is the main key in finding solutions to marital problems

What Has Been Said About Fortune-tellers and Their Like

Muslim has narrated, on the authority of one of the wives of the Prophet (Hafsah – may Allah be pleased with her), that Allah’s Prophet said:

“Whoever went to a fortune-teller and asked him about some matter (i.e. of the unseen) and believed him, will have his prayer rejected for forty days.”
