Rites of Hajj and Umrah : Shaykh Al-Albaani

The one who intends to do a sacrifice should not cut his hair and nails from the beginning of Dhul-Hijjah

The one who intends to do a sacrifice should not cut his hair and nails
from the beginning of Dhul-Hijjah UNTIL the sacrifice is done.

Shaykh Al-Albaanee, may Allah shower His Mercy upon him, states in our of his works:

The Messenger of Allah, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said:

‘When the new moon of Dhul-Hijjah appears and one of you wants to do the sacrifice, then he should abstain from (cutting) his hair and his nails.

And in a narration:

‘Then he should not take anything from his hair or from his nails until he sacrifices.’

 – Mukhtasar Saheeh Muslim No.1251 and other than it.

Shaykh Al-Albaani, may Allah shower his Mercy upon Him, comments:

“I say: And the apparent meaning of the hadeeth is the obligation to leave removing the hair and the nails for the one who has resolved to do the sacrifice until he sacrifices … and this is what Imaam Ahmad and other than him have said.

So, let those who are afflicted with the shaving of the beard pay attention to this, for indeed shaving it (the beard) for ‘Eed has in it three acts of disobedience:

The First: The shaving in of itself, for indeed it is to become feminine and to resemble the disbelievers and to change the creation of Allah as I have explained it in my book Adaab-uz-Zifaaf Fis-Sunnatil-Mutahharah (6th Edition, page 118).

The Second: Beautifying (oneself) for the ‘Eed through the disobedience of Allah!

The Third: What this hadeeth has benefitted with from the forbidding of taking (from) the hair for the one who wants to sacrifice. And in reality, very few are those who are saved from these violations (of the religion), even some of the people of knowledge! We ask Allah for safety.”

Imam Al-Nawawi’s Riyad-us-Saliheen : Chapter 226
The Excellence of As-Saum (The Fast) during the first ten Days of Dhul-Hijjah

Ibn `Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, “There are no days during which the righteous action is so pleasing to Allah than these days (i.e., the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah).” He was asked: “O Messenger of Allah, not even Jihad in the Cause of Allah?” He (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) replied, “Not even Jihad in the Cause of Allah, except in case one goes forth with his life and his property and does not return with either of it.” [Al-Bukhari].

Imam Al-Nawawi’s Riyad-us-Saliheen : Chapter 227
The Excellence of Observing Saum on the Day of ‘Arafah, ‘Ashura’ and Tasu’a (i.e., 9th of Muharram)

Abu Qatadah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) was asked about the observance of Saum (fasting) on the day of `Arafah. He said, “It is an expiation for the sins of the preceding year and the current year.” [Muslim].

The first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah are the best and most virtuous days of the year. They are the days in which Allaah the Mighty and Majestic – most loves the doing of good deeds. About this the Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, “The best days in the world are the ten days.” [1]

Imaam Ibnul-Qayyim (d.751H) – rahimahullaah – said, “Indeed, its days are the most excellent of all the days with Allaah. And it has been confirmed in Saheehul-Bukhaaree (2/382), from Ibn ’Abbaas (radiyallaahu ’anhumaa) who said, that Allaah’s Messenger (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, “There ore no days during which good deeds are more beloved to Allaah than these (ten) days.” He was then asked, ‘Not even jihaad in the path of Allaah?’ So he replied, “Not even jihaad in the path of Allaah, except for a person who goes out with his self and his wealth, and comes back with nothing.” And it is these ten days that Allaah has taken an oath by in His Book, by His saying,

By the Dawn and by the Ten Nights. [Sooratul-Fajr 89:1-2]

This is why it is recommended to increase in making takbeer (saying Allaahu akbar), tahleel (saying Laa ilaaha illallaah) and tamheed (saying Alhamdulillaah) during these days …”[2]

The Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, “There are no days that are greater with Allaah, and in which good deeds are more beloved to Him, than these ten days. So increase in making tasbeeh (saying Subhaanallaah), tamheed, tahleel and takbeer, during them.”[3]

al-Fawzan about Jarh upon Ahl-ul-Bid’ah and the Principles of Adnan Ar’ur [Video|Ar-En]

Scholar: ´Allâmah Sâlih bin Fawzân al-Fawzân
Source: youtube.com/watch?v=B9jK_y4aWpE
Reference: Darulhadith.com
Translation & video: aFatwa.com

Question: We’re wondering about a few principles. We would like to hear with you whether they agree with the confirmed principles of Ahl-us-Sunnah. The first principle is “We correct without criticising (Jarh)”. What do you say about that?

Shaykh al-Fawzân: It is baseless. That principle is baseless. People who stick to that which is false have to be criticised.

Questioner: The second principle is “If you judge, you will be judged, and if you call, you will be rewarded.” What do you say about this principle?

al-Fawzân: It is innovated. It is unfounded. People who stick to that which is false have to be judged.

Questioner: The third principle is: “It is from justice to mention the good and bad sides.” The person argued for it with the known Hadîth:

“He spoke the truth to you whilst he is a liar.”

What do you say about this?

al-Fawzân: This is also false. This speech is also false. Allâh mentioned the bad sides of the Mushrikûn (polytheists, pagans or idolaters) without mentioning the good sides.

Questioner: Does this also apply to Ahl-ul-Bid’ah?

al-Fawzân: What about Ahl-ul-Bid’ah?

Questioner: He says that it is from justice to also mention their good and bad sides…

al-Fawzân: It’s the same thing. Their bad sides are mentioned unlike their good ones. Allâh mentioned the bad sides of the enemies without mentioning their good sides. Are these ‘Ar’ûr’s principles?

Questioner: Yes, these are his principles.

al-Fawzân: They are all rejected and false. He has been refuted in several books.

Questioner: The fifth principle is “It is allowed to say that a person is wrong but it is forbidden to slander him.”

al-Fawzân: This is just as “We correct without criticizing”. They are the same.

Questioner: He gave an example and asked why Imâm Ahmad is not condemned when making Takfîr upon the one who does not perform the prayer whilst Sayyid Qutb is condemned when he expresses himself in certain ways so that we say that he makes Takfîr upon the societies while Imâm Ahmad is not condemned when he makes Takfîr upon all these multitudes? What do you say about this?

al-Fawzân: Imâm Ahmad was incredibly learned. He knew the evidence and how they were to be used. Sayyid Qutb was ignorant and had no knowledge. He had no evidence for what he said. It is unjust to compare Imâm Ahmad with Sayyid Qutb.

Questioner: He also says that he does not know of anybody today in the world who has spoken about methodological matters such as Sayyid Qutb and that most of what he has written is correct. When he was put on the spot, he said that he with “methodological matters” meant affairs of elections and assassinations and that he with “today” meant the fifties…

al-Fawzân: He does not know. He does not know because he is ignorant. We know – and all praise is due to Allâh – that the scholars before and after Sayyid Qutb do not agree with him.

Questioner: He also says that there exists a call that consists of criticizing the people due to some mistake or unclear utterance and [unclear sound]. What do you say about that?

al-Fawzân: It is empty speech. He wants to whitewash the falsehood and defend those who stick to that which is false.

Questioner: He says that he who follows up the discord of the groups will find that the reason mostly is the character and not the creed or the methodology. Is that true?

al-Fawzân: The reasons are due to the creed and not the character. He wants to cover them up.

Question: What do you say about him?

al-Fawzân: He is no scholar at all. He came to Saudi Arabia as a craftsman. He thereafter revealed what he stands by.

Questioner: Should we refrain from going to his lessons? He is coming to Europe. Do you advise the Salafi-youth to attend his lessons?

al-Fawzân: I advise the Salafî-youth to boycott his lessons and that they do not attend them.

If you know and are sure about the deviation of a group and are able to, you must warn… – Shaykh Salih Fawzan

Al-Fawzān: If you know and are sure about the deviation of a group and are able to, you must warn……even if there is a scholar who praises the group.

The following question was posed to Shaykh Sālih b. Fawzān Al-Fawzān – may Allāh preserve and protect him (“Sahab Salafi Network” 2012):

I intend to write about some deviated groups and warn against them. However, these groups have not left the fold of Islām, and some scholars have praised them, and I fear that [such scholars] might call against me. What is your advice and guidance for me, knowing that this group is deviated?

The Shaykh replied:

Your duty (wājib) is to clarify the truth; your duty is to clarify the truth. If you are sure about their errors and their deviation, you are one hundred percent sure, and you have the ability and the knowledge to explain, then it is a duty upon you to do this.

And when Allāh took the covenant from those who were given the scripture that you must explain it to people and not hide it…  (Translation of the meaning of Āl-‘Imrān: 187)

Verily those who hide the clear guidance that We have revealed…
(Translation of the meaning of Al-Baqarah: 159, 174)

It is not allowed to hide knowledge. If you know and are sure about the deviation of some groups or sects, then clarify them and explain them for the people, so that they may be on guard against them. This is part of nasīhah (sincere concern for others; advice). The Messenger – Allāh’s praise and peace be upon him – said:

The religion is nasīhah (sincerity). We asked: “to whom?” He replied, “to Allāh, and to His Book, and to His Messenger, and to the leaders of the Muslims and their masses. (Sahīh Muslim, hadīth #55)

[In doing so,] do not fear the people. You must fear Allāh – the exalted and perfect – and explain the truth and refute falsehood, and not fear people, yes.

Sending Salutations Upon The Prophet ﷺ On Jumu’ah (a forgotten Sunnah) – Dawood Burbank [Audio Clip|En]

Bismillaah

[4 minutes]
Abu Talhah Dawood Burbank (rahimahullaah)

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

Transcribed Audio Text

The authentic hadeeth that mentions that it has not been restricted to the day time of Jumuah but rather there is a authentic hadeeth reported by Anas radhiyallahu anhu, Allah’s messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said “Be plentiful in sending salat upon me on the day of Jumuah and on the night of Jumu’ah i.e the night before Jumuah, so whoever sends a single salat upon me then Allah will send salat upon him ten times over”. Hadeeth reported by Bayhaqi. Declared as saheeh by sheikh albani in his saheeha no.1407.

As for the explanation of Sheikh Muhammed Bin Salih al-Uthaymeen rahimahullah, then he said – as a regard to this hadeeth and from that which is specific to the day of Jumuah is sending abundant salat upon the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and there is no doubt that the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is the one after the whole creation who has the greatest of rights upon us. His rights upon us are greater than the rights of our own selves upon ourselves. And therefore, it is obligatory to give precedence to love him of our love of oneself and one’s child and one’s father and one’s mother and one’s wife and all of mankind. And it is not possible for your eman to be complete unless you give precedence to love of the messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam over love of everyone, every person

And from his right upon you is that you should be abundant in sending salat and salam upon him. And he is not in actually any need of your salat and your salam but rather you are in need of the reward of the salat and salam because you if you send salat upon the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam a single time then Allah will send salat upon you on account of it ten times over. So, if you say “Allahumma salli ala Muhammad” “O Allah extol Muhammed and Allah will extol you ten times over”. So, you are the one in need of that and the messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is not in need of it.

And he said: However, what is the meaning of salat upon the messenger? and we say “Allahumma salli alaa Muhammad” then many of us do not know the meaning of this phrase. What is the meaning of the saying “Allahumma salli ala Muhammad”? “O Allah send salat upon Muhammed. He said Abul-Aaliya rahimahullah mentions that he said that the salat of Allah upon his prophet means he’s praising him, he’s extoling him to the highest company of angels. He praises him saying “my servant so and so has such and such” and He mentions praiseworthy qualities. So, if you send salat upon the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam then Allah will extol you ten times over. So, it is upon you to be abundant and sending salat and salam upon Allah’s messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam on the day of Jumuah and at every time.

Sending Salaat and Salaam upon the Prophet

Verily the children of Israaeel were Destroyed when they Started Story Telling – Shaykh al-Albaani

One of the Reasons for the Destruction of the Jews :

The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said,
“Verily the children of Israaeel were destroyed when they started story telling”

Shaykh Alalbani said: Said (Ibn Atheer) in An-nihaya:

Meaning they relied upon speech and left off actions. So that was the reason for their destruction. Or vice versa; When they left off actions they were destroyed and then turned to story telling.

So I (Al-Albani) say:

It is possible to say that the reason for their destruction was the importance their preachers gave to story telling and tales and not to fiqh or beneficial knowledge through which people know their religion, what would have carried them towards righteous actions. So when they did that they were destroyed.

So this is the case of many of the story tellers of our era. Those whose speech revolves around Judeo-Christian traditions, heart softeners and sayings of the soofis. And Allah’s safety is sought.

Transcription of the above Audio :

Then we travelled to ‘Kassala’ in Sudan.
It was Maasha Allaah.
We did Da’wah there.
Alhamdolilah.
We talked and Allaah benefited the people there.
It is a small town, so we visited all of the Masaajid there.
They said :
“There is only one masjid that we have not visited yet.
And it is upon the Tijaanee methodology.
And it is a Masjid that we have never been able to enter.”
Because they are very stubborn.
I said :
“We will go there and ask permission.
If they permit us to speak, we will speak.
If they do not permit us to speak, we will leave.
And that is up to Allaah.
We did not come here with force.”
So we went there and the Imaam led the prayer.
After the prayer, I gave him salaam.
[And said to him] :
“Do you mind if I give a small talk to these brothers?”
So he said : “Go ahead.”
So I spoke, may Allaah bless you, and I called to Allaah.
And I called to Tawheed and I called to the Sunnah and so on.
And at the same time I refuted the mistakes.
And the misguided beliefs that were present.

Until I reached the hadeeth of A’isha where she said:
“3 things, if anyone were to tell them to you, Tthen he has lied upon Allaah a great lie.
Whoever tells you that Muhammad has seen his Lord has lied a great lie upon Allaah.
And whoever says that Muhammad, knows the future, has lied a great lie against Allaah.
And whoever claims that Muhammad did not relate the whole religion to the people has lied against Allaah a great lie.
[Bukhaaree and Muslim]

So he got up and said :
“By Allaah, Muhammad saw his Lord with his own two eyes that are on his head.”
So I said to him :
“May Allaah reward you with good.
As for A’isha, [radiAllaahu anhaa], she is the most knowledgeable of his affairs.
And she said that he did not see his Lord.
And By Allaah, if he had seen his Lord he would have told her.”
He kept on talking, so I said to him :
“Wait until I have finished what I have to say.
And then you can ask whatever you like.
That which I know, I will answer.
That which I do not know, I will tell you : Allah knows best.”
I left him and I continued speaking.
And I was not really sure if he stayed or if he left.
Slowly I heard one of the men in the crowd saying :
“By Allaah, what this ‘Zuul’ is saying is the truth”
Zuul means man, in Sudan.
Slowly he said :
“By Allaah, what this man is saying is the Truth”
I used : “Allaah said….” and “The Messenger of Allaah said….”
May Allaah bless you.
Then the athaan of Isha was called and I finished my speech.
Then the Iqaamah was called.
And the people started pushing me to lead the prayer.
So I said :
“Never, never. The Imaam should lead the prayer.”
They said :
“By Allaah, you lead the prayer!”
So I said “OK” and I led the prayer.
After the prayer, the youth from Ansar us-Sunnah and myself left the masjid.
And I asked :
“Where is the Imaam?”
They said “They kicked him out!”
“Who kicked him out!?”
“His own Jamaa’ah kicked him out!”
By Allaah, this is what happened!
But if one was to come to them with this foolishness and insult them, meaning the Tijaaniyyah, the Burhaaniyyah and so forth, If one was to say this, who would accept it!?
But if you came to them with wisdom and kindness.
May Allaah bless you.
Allaah benefited them!
Allaah benefited them with this!
So O brothers, use beneficial knowledge.
And strong irrefutable evidences.
And beneficial wisdom in your Da’wah.
And it is upon you to have all of the beautiful manners that the Book Of Allaah and the Prophet of Guidance encouraged[Sallallaahu Alaihi Wa sallam]
Because they are the tools of Victory.
And they are the tools of Success.
And believe me when I say that the Sahaabah did not spread Islaam and have it enter into the hearts of the people, except with Wisdom and their character, more then with the sword.
Because the one enters Islam by sword will probably not remain steadfast.
The one who entered Islaam by way of knowledge and evidence….He is the one who will have strong faith.
So it is upon you to follow these good ways.
And it is upon you to be serious about knowledge.
As it is upon you to be serious about giving Da’wah to Allaah.

"Whenever I waiver and become indecisive" – Ibn Taymiyyah

Shaykhul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullah) said:
“Indeed whenever I waiver and become indecisive in my mind about an issue, or about something or a situation [which is problematic for me] then I ask forgiveness of Allaah the Most High, a thousand times or more, or less until He opens my chest for me and solves the problem which I was confused about. Even if at that time I was in a market place, or in a masjid or in a mountain pass or a school, that does not prevent me from the remembrance [of Allaah] and asking for forgiveness until I achieve my objective.”

It is not permissible for a woman to pray with her feet uncovered – Shaikh al-Albaani

Q: “Should a woman cover her feet when she prays?”

Shaikh al-Albaani:

It is not permissible for her to pray with her feet uncovered, indeed it is not permissible for her to walk in the streets with her feet uncovered, because the feet are part of a woman’s `awrah based on Allaah’s عز وجل Statement: {And let them not stamp their feet to make known what they conceal of their adornment}.[1] The woman during the Days of Ignorance used to wear what is known in the Arabic language as khalkhaal (anklet), meaning a bracelet with small bells. So when the woman walked, she – in order to turn the men’s attention to her – would strike the ground with her feet so the anklet would make a noise and the men would hear that; and such was due to shaitaan’s whisperings to her.

This means that the feet used to be covered. Because of what? Because of thejilbaab that the women were commanded to cast down from over their heads, according to Allaah’s Statement: {O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their outer garments  (jilbaabs) close upon themselves}.[2] And it is mentioned in the authentic hadeeth that the Prophet ﷺ said one day during a gathering in which there were also women: ‘Whoever drags his garment out of pride, Allaah عز وجل will not look at him on the Day of Resurrection.’ One of the women said: ‘O Messenger of Allaah, then our feet will be exposed.’ He ﷺ said: ‘let the women lengthen (their garments) by a hand-span.’ She said: ‘Then a wind will come and uncover (their feet).’ He ﷺ said: ‘let them add another hand-span, i.e. (a total of) one cubit, and not go beyond that.’[3] [4]

In this manner, the jilbaab of the Muslim woman – at the time of the revelation of the above-mentioned verse: {to draw their outer garments (jilbaabs) close upon themselves} – used to cover the feet since the socks that are widespread nowadays among both women and men were not widespread at that time. The woman used to cover her shins and feet with the long jilbaab that resembles the `abaa.ah. Therefore it is not permissible for a Muslim woman to uncover her feet while she is on the street, and it is even more impermissible for her to pray with her feet uncovered.”

They (the disbelievers, the Jews and the Christians) want to extinguish Allâh’s Light (with which Muhammad (Sallallaahu alaihi wa Sallam) has been sent – Islâmic Monotheism) with their mouths, but Allâh will not allow except that His Light should be perfected even though the Kâfirûn (disbelievers) hate (it).(At-Tawbah 9:32)

It is He Who has sent His Messenger (Muhammad Sallallaahu alaihi wa Sallam ) with guidance and the religion of truth (Islâm), to make it superior over all religions even though the Mushrikûn (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh) hate (it). (At-Tawbah 9:33)

From Tafsir Ibn Kathir 9:32-33

Allah says, the disbelieving idolators and People of the Scriptures want to,

(extinguish the Light of Allah). They try through argument and lies to extinguish the guidance and religion of truth that the Messenger of Allah was sent with. Their example is the example of he who wants to extinguish the light of the sun or the moon by blowing at them! Indeed, such a person will never accomplish what he sought. Likewise, the light of what the Messenger was sent with will certainly shine and spread.

Allah replied to the idolators’ desire and hope,

(but Allah will not allow except that His Light should be perfected even though the disbelievers (Kafirun) hate (it)) (9:32).(Linguistincally) a Kafir is the person who covers something. For instance, night is called Kafiran (covering) because it covers things (with darkness). The farmer is called Kafiran, because he covers seeds in the ground. Allah said in an Ayah, (thereof the growth is pleasing to the (Kuffar) tillers) (57:20).

Allah said next, (It is He Who has sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth.) `Guidance’ refers to the true narrations, beneficial faith and true religion that the Messenger came with. `religion of truth’ refers to the righteous, legal deeds that bring about benefit in this life and the Hereafter.

(to make it (Islam) superior over all religions) It is recorded in the Sahih that the Messenger of Allah said,

(Allah made the eastern and western parts of the earth draw near for me (to see), and the rule of my Ummah will extend as far as I saw.) Imam Ahmad recorded from Tamim Ad-Dari that he said, “I heard the Messenger of Allah saying,

(This matter (Islam) will keep spreading as far as the night and day reach, until Allah will not leave a house made of mud or hair, but will make this religion enter it, while bringing might to a mighty person (a Muslim) and humiliation to a disgraced person (who rejects Islam). Might with which Allah elevates Islam (and its people) and disgrace with which Allah humiliates disbelief (and its people).)(Tamim Ad-Dari ﴿ who was a Christian before Islam﴾ used to say, “I have come to know the meaning of this Hadith in my own people. Those who became Muslims among them acquired goodness, honor and might. Disgrace, humiliation and Jizyah befell those who remained disbelievers.”

The Life Of Khadeejah bint Khuwaylid – Abu Uwais Abdullah Ali [Mp3|En]

A reminder for our men and women on the honorable role, position and status of our women in Islam by looking at the life of Khadeejah bint Khuwaylid (may Allah be pleased with her). This was at a Sister’s Luncheon hosted by Masjidu Rahmah.

Fifteen Examples of Supplications Immediately Answered by Allaah – Ibn Rajab

The Messenger of Allah related that Allah Said:

“…if he calls upon Me, I answer him, and if he asks of Me, I will give him…”

Ibn Rajab commented:

“…This means that this person who is beloved and close to Allah has a special status with Allah such that if he asks Allah for something, He gives it to him, and if he seeks refuge with Allah from anything, He protects him from that thing, and if he calls upon Him, He answers him. So, he ends up becoming from those whose supplications are answered due to his honor with Allah.

And many from the righteous early generations were known to have their supplications answered.

It is related in the ‘Sahih’ that ar-Rubay’ bint an-Nadr broke a tooth of a slave. So, they offered compensation, and they refused. They asked for pardon, and they refused. The Messenger of Allah was then going to implement the rule of retaliation between them. Anas bin an-Nadr said: “The tooth of ar-Rubay’ will be broken? By the One who has sent you with the truth, her tooth will not be broken.” So, the people were pleased and took the compensation. The Messenger of Allah then said: “Indeed, from the slaves of Allah are those who, if they make an oath upon Allah, He fulfills it.”

…And Ibn Abi ad-Dunya reported with his chain that an-Nu’man bin Qawfal said on the day of Uhud: “O Allah, I swear that I will be killed and enter Paradise.” So, he was killed, and the Prophet said: “Indeed, Nu’man made an oath upon Allah, and He fulfilled that oath.”

And Abu Nu’aym reported with his chain from Sa’d that ‘Abdullah bin Jahsh said on the day of Uhud: “O Lord, if I meet the enemy tomorrow, give me an adversary who is strong and harsh for me to fight for Your Sake and for him to fight me. Then, let him cut off my nose and ear so that when I meet You the next day, You Say: ‘O ‘Abdullah! Why were your nose and ear cut off?’ I will say: ‘For You and Your Messenger.’ And You will Say: ‘You have spoken the truth.’

Sa’d said: “I saw him at the end of the day with his nose and ear hanging from a thread.”

And Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas would have his supplications answered. A man lied upon him, and he said: “O Allah, if he is lying, take away his eyesight, elongate his life, and expose him to trials and tribulations.” So, the man was stricken with all of this, as he used to walk through the streets and come into contact with the slave girls, saying: “I am an old man who is experiencing fitnah. I have been stricken with the supplication of Sa’d!”

And he supplicated against a man he heard insulting ‘Ali, and immediately, a camel came and trampled him to death.

And a woman disputed with Sa’id bin Zayd over some land he owned, claiming that he had taken from her land. So, he said: “O Allah, if she is lying, take away her eyesight and kill her in her own land.” So, she became blind, and one night when she was walking in her land, she fell into a well and died.

And al-’Ala’ bin al-Hadrami was on an expedition, and those with him became very thirsty. So, he prayed and supplicated: “O Knower, O Bestower, O Most High, O Mighty! We are Your slaves, and we are fighting Your enemy for Your Sake. Give us water to drink and make ablution from, and do not allow anyone else to benefit from this water!” They walked for a bit to find a river of water flowing from the sky. They drank from it and filled their vessels. Later, some of his companions returned to where the river was to find that there was nothing there, as if there had never been any water there.

And someone complained to Anas bin Malik of a drought in a part of al-Basrah. So, he performed ablution and went out to the patch of land, prayed two units, and it then began raining on the patch of land, and the rain did not fall anywhere beyond that patch of land.

…And Abu Muslim al-Khawlani was known for having his supplications answered. Once, a gazelle passed by him, and the young boys in the area said: “Ask Allah to allow us to capture this gazelle!” So, he supplicated, and he captured it and held it until they were able to take it from his hands.

And he once supplicated against a woman who had ruined his relationship with his wife that her eyesight be taken away. She immediately went blind, and she came to him begging. So, he had pity for her and asked Allah to return her eyesight to her, and his wife returned to her normal state with him.

And a man lied upon Mutarraf bin ‘Abdullah, and Mutarraf said: “If you are lying, I ask Allah to hasten your departure,” and the man died on the spot.

And a Kharijite used to pass by the classes of al-Hasan al-Basri and annoy those present. When it became unbearable, al-Hasan said: “O Allah, You Know how he has harmed us. So, suffice us against him with what You Will,” and the man immediately collapsed and was carried dead to his family.

And Silah bin Ashim was on an expedition, and his camel wandered off with all of his belongings, and there was nobody else around. So, he stood and prayed, saying: “O Allah, I swear that you will return my camel and belongings,” and it walked back until it stood right in front of him.

…And Habib al-’Ajami Abu Muhammad was known for having his supplications answered. He once supplicated for a young boy who was bald, and would weep and wipe his tears over the boy’s head. The boy’s hair began growing black all over his head, and it looked better than it had before.

…And Sa’id bin Jubayr was patient upon the harm inflicted upon him by al-Hajjaj until he killed him, and he was from those whose supplication was answered. He used to have a rooster whose crowing would wake him up to pray at night. One night, it didn’t wake him up on time, and he became very distressed, saying: “What is wrong with it? May Allah cut off its voice!” It never crowed again, and his mother said: “My son, do not supplicate against anything ever again.”

Tremendous Advice from Shaikh Rabee’ On The Importance of Reviewing Correct ‘Aqeedah & Tawheed, Renewing one’s Eeman, and fearing Shirk and Hypocrisy!

Bismillaah Al-Hamdulillaah wa salatu wa salaamu ‘ala rasulullaah

Tremendous Advice from Shaikh Rabee’ On The Importance of Reviewing Correct ‘Aqeedah & Tawheed, Renewing one’s Eeman, and fearing Shirk and Hypocrisy!

Shaikh Rabee’ bin Haadee al-Madkhalee (hafidhahullaah Ta’aala) said:

“Look at the Muslim world today; go to Egypt, or go to Sudan, or go to Pakistan, and you will see incredibly dangerous false practices. In this land of Sa’udia Arabia, we have eradicated these elevated and venerated graves connected with false worship – all praise is due to Allaah. However, today many callers make it easy for the people to go to these locations or places of disobedience of Allaah in other countries, while at the same time it is likely that they denounce the emphasis given by others to calling to the worship of Allaah alone.

Oh brother, the Messenger (salallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) would from time to time repeatedly call his companions to reaffirm their oath of allegiance to him that they would not associate anything with Allaah in their worship. He had Abu Bakr and ‘Umar, Ibn Mas’ood, ‘Ubaidah Ibn as-Saamit (radiallaahu ‘anhum) and others again make the oath of allegiance to him that they would not associate or join anything else along with the worship of Allaah, as well as that they would establish the prayer, and so forth.

Why would he reaffirm this oath of allegiance with the likes of Abu Bakr and ‘Umar?

Because our correct belief always requires being refreshed, rekindled, and renewed. As this correct belief, it is necessary that we plant it firmly within us as individuals, and among us collectively, and that we be reminded of its place and importance.” …

Shaikh Rabee’ also said:

“And if there is a caller today who correctly warns the people from this false practice of associating others with Allaah (in worship), the people will say, ‘Do you think we are idol worshippers?’ But why would the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) himself reaffirm this oath of allegiance with the likes of Abu Bakr and ‘Umar, that they not associate anything with Allaah in their worship, yet you ‘callers’ do not warn from this practice of joining others with Allaah in worship?!

Ibraheem (salallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said [in his du’aa to Allaah]:

وَاجْنُبْنِي وَبَنِيَّ أَنْ نَعْبُدَ الأَصْنَامَ
“…and keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols.” (Ibraaheem, ayah 35)

Yes, Ibraaheem – the father of the Prophets – and Khaleel-ur-Rahmaan said:

وَاجْنُبْنِي وَبَنِيَّ أَنْ نَعْبُدَ الأَصْنَامَ رَبِّ إِنَّهُنَّ أَضْلَلْنَ كَثِيرا ً مِنَ النَّاسِ فَمَنْ تَبِعَنِي فَإِنَّه ُُ مِنِّي وَمَنْ عَصَانِي فَإِنَّكَ غَفُور ٌ رَحِيم

“…and keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols. Oh my Lord! They have indeed led astray many among mankind. But whoso follows me, he verily is of me. And whoso disobeys me – still You are indeed Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (Ibraaheem, ayat 35-36)

He was aware that from among his descendants there would be many Prophets, yet despite this he still feared for them. So how can we consider ourselves safe and secure from this danger?!

Ya Muqqallib al-Qulloob Thabit Qulubuna ‘ala Deenik
(Oh Turner of the hearts, make our hearts steadfast upon Your Religion).

The Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) often made this supplication and taught his companions to say this supplication. Yet many of us today, we possess undeserved confidence that we will not fall into associating others with Allaah, nor fall into hypocrisy.

But the companions feared for themselves hypocrisy. Ibn Abee Malaikah (rahimahullaah) said:

“I encountered 30 of the companions of the Prophet Muhammad (salallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam), and all of them feared for themselves being hypocrites.”

Shaikh Rabee’ also said:
“As such, it is necessary that each of us fears falling into hypocrisy, and fears falling into matters of associating others with Allaah in worship, and fears for our hearts swerving away from the truth.

Allaah said:

(They say): “Our Lord! Let not our hearts deviate (from the truth) after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from You. Truly, You are the Bestower.” (Aali Imran, ayah 8) and the verse:

فَلاَ يَأْمَنُ مَكْرَ اللَّهِ إِلاَّ الْقَوْمُ الْخَاسِرُونَ
…None feels secure from the Plan of Allaah except the people who are the losers. (Al-A’raf, ayah 99)

So we have fear for that which might affect the steadfastness and the strength of our Eeman within ourselves.

Therefore, we must make every effort in bringing about the causes for steadfastness, from actions which are obedience to Allaah, from submission and compliance to Allaah, Subhanahu wa Ta’aala, from seeking forgiveness of Allaah, Subhanahu wa Ta’aala, during the day and night by always humbly seeking from Him and beseeching Him to make us firm upon Islaam, and that Allaah guide at our hands those who want the guidance of Allaah, Subhanahu wa Ta’aala.”

Shaikh Rabee’ also said:

“As for the danger of lying and hypocrisy, we will offer you some thoughts regarding that. Indeed many of the leading personalities of falsehood and misguidance wore the ‘garments’ of Islaam, and made an outward show of worship and of striving to rectify affairs, as it is not possible for them to attempt to deceive the people except through adorning themselves in these ‘garments’ of Islaam in which they present themselves giving the appearance of righteous Muslims.

So in any case, if he reveals the characteristic of lying – even if he stands the night in prayer and fasts during the day – then that lying is a sign from the signs of hypocrisy. Moreover if he possesses – in addition to this – the characteristics of going against his word and excessiveness in his disputes, then clearly he stands as a pure hypocrite, and from this we seek refuge in Allaah.

Just as the Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

The Signs of the hypocrites are three, when he speaks, he lies, when he promises, he breaks his word – or it is said when he gives a trust he is disloyal to it – and when he disputes, he goes to extremes.

So these four characteristics, if he possesses these four, then he is a pure hypocrite. And I say that the first three characteristics are those which are mentioned in the narration of Abu Hurrairah. However, the narration of ‘Abdullaah ibn ‘Umar mentions four characteristics. In any case, if he possesses all of these mentioned characteristics, then he is a pure hypocrite upon pure hypocrisy. And it may be that in regard to specific individuals, it would be restricted to the hypocrisy of deeds or actions, or it may be the full reality of hypocrisy in one’s inward belief which then takes him outside of the boundaries of Islaam.

Previously it has been explained to you that some of the people today consider that the matter of hypocrisy as a reality has ‘ended.’ They suppose that hypocrisy was ‘only’ in the time of the Messenger (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), but as for the latter ages, then they are ‘free’ from hypocrisy occurring within them. This is clearly from their obvious ignorance and foolishness, and we seek refuge in Allaah from that.

As indeed, the most knowledgeable of people regarding the hypocrites was the companion Hudhaifa ibn al-Yamaan (radiallaahu ‘anhu), and this companion who was the most knowledgeable of the hypocrites said: The hypocrisy today is worse and more evil than the hypocrisy in the time of the Messenger. They said, ‘Why is that?’ He said: Because at that time, the hypocrites strove to conceal their hypocrisy, but as for the people today, they manifest it openly.

So these individuals openly showed their hypocrisy, and spoke about their shameful affair, in their opposition to the Muslims. Specifically in the matter of calling to Allaah, the Blessed and the Most High, the one who fights against the call to the truth, engages in deceptions and fabricates things, then it is not something to be considered unlikely that many from among them are true complete hypocrites. And we ask Allaah for health and well being.”
