Rejuvenating the heart after repeatedly sinning – Shaykh Muhammad bin Haadee

Question :

This questioner asks, ‘How does a person rejuvenate his heart after repeatedly sinning?

Shaykh Muhammad bin Haadee Al-Madkhali:

He rejuvenates it firstly by distancing himself from sinning. This is the first thing.

Secondly, distancing himself from the reasons for sinning like bad company or similar things, looking at prohibited things or similar actions, listening to prohibited things or travelling to do prohibited things, (he leaves) every reason which leads to this (sinning).

So he distances himself from sinning by making Towbah (repentance) and he distances himself from sins.

Also, he is to sit with righteous people, those whom we previously spoke about. From these people are those whose companionship is like air, if it is cut off, you die, you breathe with them, and thus it is upon you to sit with the righteous. Be companions with them and stick with them as you acquire an immense amount of good by sitting with them. They protect you, with the grace of Allah and His mercy, from returning to that which you were upon.

Also, it is upon you to increase your reading of the Quran and likewise it is upon you to beseech and supplicate to your Lord the Most High, the One who gives blessings, to protect you just as He gave you success to make Towbah (repentence), ask Him to protect you for as long as what remains from your life and put yourself before Allah frequently supplicating with this du’a. Ask Allah to have mercy upon you, to protect you and make you steadfast, and to make your heart firm. Increase making du’a for these things as verily Allah the Most High does not dissapoint the one who supplicates to Him.

I miss the Fajr prayer often, what should I do? – Advice from Shaykh ibn ‘Uthaymeen

Translated by Mikail ibn Mahboob Ariff حفظه الله
Video Courtesy: Bilal Nahim

Question [Reader]:

Someone with a question is saying: Esteemed Shaikh, I miss the Fajr prayer often, and I don’t pray [it] except after sunrise at the time I want to go to work. And this matter might happen again and again, so is there any [sin] upon me? And What should I do in order to stick to my prayer on time?

Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih Al-‘Uthaymeen:

Do a number of things.

The first thing is that you sleep early. That you sleep early. And it is for this reason the Prophet sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam used to hate [one’s] sleeping before Eshaa’ and enganging in discussions after it so that a person may go to sleep early in order to wake up early. This is one.

Second is that you have an intention at the time of going to sleep. a resolve, and determination that you are going to wake up for Fajr prayer. Then waking up will be easy for you.

Third is that you use an alarm clock you put by your head that sets off an alarm for you. And if you’re afraid that when it goes off, you’ll switch it off, turn off the sound, and keep sleeping, keep it away from you a bit. And someone, out of concern for the prayer, would put the alarm clock in a tin can [words unclear] and keep it at a distance from himself, so that it would have a powerful sound, so he would wake up. Do this. There’s nothing prohibiting [it].

If this weren’t easy for you, put a telephone by your head, if you have a telephone, and tell one of your brothers, “When the Adhaan for Fajr is given, give me a ring.” What’s important is that a person can do things which result in his waking up so that he can perform Fajr in its time. And one who makes laziness a habit for himself will remain upon laziness.

(voices too faint to hear requesting further clarification from the Shaikh)

As for prayer in other than its time, if one intended [that], then the prayer is not accepted. It is rejected from him, even if he were to pray it a thousand times, due to the saying of the Prophet , Whoever does an act that is not under our legislation, it will be rejected,“ meaning it is returned back to him [unaccepted].

If the Eid Coincides With the Day of Al-Jumu ah – Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen

Translated by Abu Afnaan Muhammad ‘Abdullah حفظه الله
Video Courtesy: Bilal Nahim

Question:

May Allah grant you good. The questioner from Yemen, Hasan Saalih asks, ‘Regarding the day of ‘Eid, Eid al Fitr or ‘Eid al Adha, if it coincides with the day of al Jumu’ah, what are the legislative rulings concerning this?

Shaykh Muhammad bin Saalih Al-‘Uthaymeen:

If the ‘Eid coincides with al-Jumu’ah, whether it be ‘Eid al Fitr or Eid al Adha, then it is obligatory that the ‘Eid prayer is prayed and that Jumu’ah is prayed. Then it is said to whoever prayed ‘Eid prayer and was not the imam, if he wishes he may pray Jumu’ah or if he wishes he may pray Dhuhr in his home instead. This is the summary of the issue.

Does ‘Umrah in Ramadan compensate for Hajj? – Shaykh Ibn Baaz

Source: http://www.binbaz.org.sa/node/19904
Translated by Abu Afnaan Muhammad Abdullah hafidhahullaah

Question:

Does ‘Umrah in the month of Ramadan satisfy for the obligation of Hajj due to the Messenger’s (صلى الله عليه وسلم) statement, “Whoever performs ‘Umrah in Ramadan is like the one who makes Hajj with me.”

Shaykh Abdul- Azeez Bin Baaz:

Umrah in Ramadan does not compensate for Hajj. However, it has the merit/virtue of Hajj due to his (صلى الله عليه وسلم) statement, ‘Umrah in Ramadan equals a Hajj’ or he said ‘a Hajj with me‘.

This means in regards to merit and reward and it does not mean it is equivalent to it and replaces it such that he does not have to perform Hajj. No, rather he still must perform the Hajj, the Hajj of Islam (the obligatory Hajj) even if he makes ‘Umrah in Ramadan according to all of the scholars. Thus, with ‘Umrah in Ramadan, the merit of Hajj is attained from the aspect of reward and excellence, but it does not compensate for the Hajj of Islam.

Question:

What is obligatory upon the individual who has a Wet Dream [1] during the daytime in Ramadan? We would like the answer and may Allah reward you.

Shaykh ‘Abdul -‘Azeez ibn Baaz:

Nothing becomes obligatory due to a wet dream. If a man or woman has a wet dream in Ramadan and he/she is fasting, then there is nothing obligatory upon him/her as this does not occur due to one’s choice. If he dreams that he/she is having sexual intercourse and then sees that sperm has emitted, the fast is valid as Allah does not burden a person with more than they can bear.

This is an issue in which there is consensus between the scholars that there is nothing binding upon the person (in this situation) and all praise is due to Allah. Likewise, if he were to imagine and due to this, ejaculated, his fast is valid as it did not happen due to his choice.

[1] wet dream is a spontaneous orgasm during sleep that includes ejaculation for a male, or vaginal wetness or an orgasm (or both) for a female (source: wikipedia)

Question :

What are the recommended Sunnah actions upon the birth of a newborn?

Shaykh Muqbil bin Hadee Al-Waadi’ee:

The recommended sunnah actions: Rather what is obligatory is the ‘Aqeeqah as the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) stated: “Every child is mortgaged with his ‘Aqeeqah. ‘And the ‘Aqeeqah is two sheep for a boy and one sheep for a girl”. That is one affair, the other affair is selecting a good name; meaning naming him with a pleasant name as Imam Muslim narrated in his Sahih from Abdillah ibn Umar that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: “The most beloved names to Allah are ’Abdulah and ’Abdur Rahman”.

Beware beware! From naming your newborn with the names of the kufaar like George or the names of oppressors like Saddam, Ma’mar al Qadhafi or Hafidh Asad. So beware of naming it with these names. Also, naming the newborn Jamal is permissible. However, if what is desired from this is naming after Jamal Abdul Nasir -May Allah not have mercy upon him- then no. What is important is to choose a good name.

After that, also choosing a righteous wet nurse as the child is influenced by the woman who breastfeeds him. Also, beware beware of breastfeeding from an imbecilic woman or from a crazy woman or a woman suffering from a nervous condition as all of these affect the child, wallahul musta’aan

Question Concerning Ramadan – honorable Sheikh – Do Backbiting and Tale Bearing in Ramadan break the fast and what are helpful things which assist in contemplation and fearing Allah in the prayer?

Shaykh ‘Abdul-‘Azeez bin Baaz:

Backbiting and Tale Bearing are two major sins. However, they do not break the fast, but the person incurs a grevious wrong doing as they are major sins, in Ramadan and in other months, yet they do not break the fast.

Does Using an Inhaler Break your Fast

Using an Inhaler During for the Fasting Person

Question:

What is the ruling on a fasting person using an inhaler for breathing problems, and does it break the fast?

Answer  by Shaykh Uthaymeen:

This spray is vaporized and does not reach the stomach, so in that case, we say that there is no objection to using it when you are fasting, and it will not cause you to break your fast, because as we have said, none of its particles enter the stomach. Since it is something that is defused and vaporized, and it disappears, then none of it reaches the stomach, therefore it is permissible for you to use it when you are fasting and the fast is not invalidated by it.

My Umrah Selfie – Dr Murtaza bin Baksh [ Video|Urdu- English Subtitles]

Translated and transcribed by: Aboo Bilal Nahim ibn Abd al Majid حفظه الله

Below is the Transcription of the above Video

The question of the brother is that in these days a new Fitnah (trial) has begun.

THE TAKING OF SELFIE PHOTOSAllah’s aid is sought.

The strange thing is that you see this in the Haram, people standing in front of the Ka’bah taking selfies, behind them is the Ka’bah and they are taking photographs.  My brother, taking photographs is Haraam (forbidden).

This Haraam (forbidden act), outside of this House (of Allah) is also Haraam.

Its prohibition inside (of this Masjid) is increased even more!

In front of the House of Allah its prohibition is increased even more!

For what reason have these people come here? To show the world that I have come here to perform Umrah and here is my evidence for it! Then were has their intention gone!

If you came for the pleasure of Allah, then why is there a need to announce to the world where you are?  Then they post it upon Facebook:

“Look, I also went to Makkah.  Here is the proof, look the Ka’bah is behind me.”

إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون

To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.

So fear Allah and save yourself from this Fitnah… and a mobile phone is a mobile phone.  Some people have turned it in to, I don’t know what.

For some people within it, they have songs, music, movies a camera.

HARAAM UPON HARAAM!

How many Muharamaat (forbidden things) are you carrying in your pocket!!

 So, FEAR ALLAH!!

Keep it within the limits of being a mobile phone.  Use it in a good manner for good (permissible) things.  But, since when has that taking of photographs been regard as making good use of it?

Using it for something that is Haraam!

Allah has given you the ability, by Allah millions wish for the opportunity to visit the House of Allah.  In the world, millions of individuals, I swear by Allah. But, do they have the ability?  No they don’t have the ability. They don’t get the opportunity to come to the House of Allah.

They die with this desire!

And you come here having the pleasure of performing Umrah and you are taking SELFIES!!

Behind you walk’s a sister or someone’s mother and they too become a part of this selfie.  Do you have no shame!

Nor do you have any shame with regards to the House of Allah and no shame with regards to the sister or daughter and neither any shame of yourself.  So for this reason this is a fitnah and it is not permissible, may Allah reward you with barakah!

(Dr Murtaza (حفظه الله تعالى) then explains the prohibition to our Moroccan brother (حفظه الله تعالى) who was present (in the Urdu lecture) to take opportunity to sit in a gathering where the remembrance of Allah was taking place).

Question: Is it allowed to listen to Islâmic Anâshîd?

Shaykh Ibn Bâz: No. If these Anâshîd are sound and are in accordance with the Sharî’ah and are free from sins, then they are considered as allowed.

Question: There are some Islâmic Anâshîd that are sung together with tambourines (daff). They lead to enthusiasm and consist of good meanings. What is your opinion on it?

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymîn: A lot is said about Islâmic Anâshîd. It was a long time ago I listened to them. They were okay when they first emerged. They were free from tambourines. They did not cause any tribulations and they were not sung in accordance with forbidden melodic tones. They have evolved through time. They began to be combined with percussion instruments, it may have been tambourines or something else. Subsequently, they further evolved and started to be sung with beautified, trying voices. Later on, they evolved even more and started to be sung as the forbidden songs. That is why I am not comfortable with them. It cannot be said that all of them are allowed just as it cannot be said that all of them are forbidden. They are allowed if they are free from the things I have mentioned. Nevertheless, if they are combined with tambourines, beautiful, trying voices or forbidden melodic tones, then they are not permissible to listen to.

Are the Kuffar (disbelievers) our brothers in humanity? Was Pharaoh also? – Shaykh Salih Fawzan

Question: There are those who say that the Kuffâr (disbelievers) are our brothers in humanity and not in the religion. Is this true?

Shaykh al-Fawzân: It is not sufficient with the humanity. One does not speak like that in order to please them or to gain their sympathies. One does not speak like that. One says that they are our enemies and not that they are our brothers in humanity. One says that they are our enemies. What is the benefit of a human fraternity if they are our enemies in the religion? What does it benefit? Pharaoh was also a human. Right? Was he also our brother? We do not say that.
