[Must Read] When A Man Is In A Barren Land – Great Reward

Salmaan al-Farsee-radiyallaahu `anhu– said: Allaah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said:

When a man is in a barren land and the time for the Prayer comes then let him perform the wudoo·, and if he does not find any water then let him perform the tayyammum.

So if he gives the iqaamah his two Angels pray along with him; and

if he gives the adhaan and gives the iqaamah, then so many of Allaah’s army pray along with him that the two sides cannot be seen.

Reported by `Abdur-Razzaaq in his Musannaf, and by at-Tabaraanee; and Shaikh al-Albaanee declared it ‘Saheeh’ (authentic) in ‘Saheehut-Targheeb wat -Tarheeb’ of al-Mundhiree.

The People Who Depart From The Truth Are One Of Two People – Shaykh Saalih as-Suhaymee

The People of Innovation are of Two Types
Shaykh Saalih ibn Sa`d as-Suhaymee
(hafidhahullaah)

Shaykh Saalih ibn Sa`d as-Suhaymee hafizahullaah in  his taped explanation of Sharhus-Sunnah with regard to the point that the people who depart from the Truth are one of two people, said,“Yes, this is a precise categorisation from the Shaykh, rahimahullaah.  The innovators are indeed of two categories, because the Shaykh, as you know, throughout his whole book, his focus is upon the innovators.

And from them there is a category who actually want the Truth, but he does not attain it.  Just like the people of thikr who we mentioned a short while ago (the same incident of those people in the masjid who were doing an innovated form of thikr which `Abdullaah ibn Mas`ood criticised).  Those who said to Ibn Mas`ood, radiyAllaahu’anh, ‘We only intend the Truth.’ However, how many people there are who intend the Truth, but do not attain it.

“Whoever intends the Truth, he should seek it from its correct place.  And the Truth does not come about through venerating individuals, nor through flashy words, nor by having a majority.  It only comes about through ittibaa`, following the Truth, following the first generations, the generations of the Companions and the Taabi`een and proceeding upon their methodology.  So the like of this person (the first person, he strays into innovation but he only intends the Truth) is destroyed if he does not come back and seek the Truth with its proof from the correct place.

However his danger is less than the danger of the second category of the people.  And perhaps his harm will be restricted to himself, meaning the one who intends the Truth but he seeks it not in the correct way.  So he slips and innovates and falls into innovation, and the judgement upon him will be in the light of how severe his innovations are.   It may be of the level of something less or it may be something major or it may be something which takes him out of Islaam, but his danger will be less.

And your advising him should be between you and him, if you know that he is not a caller to innovation and that he does not propagate innovation.  Then you should come to him privately and you make clear to him the correct path, so that he can follow it.  You make clear to him the methodology of the AhlusSunnah walJamaa`ah.  You don’t make his affair open.  You don’t mention him upon the minbars.  You don’t mention him as being a person with criticism.  Rather you direct him and give him sincere advice.

So if this type of person is how he is, then maybe be one day, by the permission of Allaah, he will turn back.  And even if he stays upon his innovation, then he does not represent a great danger to the people (he doesn’t call to this innovation).  However what is obligatory is that you strive to give him advice and clarify and give him correct, constructive direction.

“As for the second category of people, those who are obstinate, those who do so deliberately with pride, they commit innovation, obstinately, deliberately.   The more you forbid him, the more he increases in his error until he becomes a caller to innovation.  Therefore the Salaf used to reject the narrations of an innovator, who was a caller to innovation and not accept them, rather they would reject them and warn against him and against his innovation.  So the like of this person, you must make his affair clear and warn against him.  And if he has written a book, he is refuted with a book.  If he has a tape, he is refuted with a tape.  If he gives speeches, he is refuted in speeches.  The people are warned against his evil. ”

Then after some speech the Shaykh said finishing, “So this second type, who is indicated by the author here, he is the most dangerous of people for this nation.  Therefore it is obligatory to warn the people against him and to draw attention to their evil and to warn the nation against their evil.

Imam Al-Nawawi’s Riyad-us-Saliheen : Chapter 226
The Excellence of As-Saum (The Fast) during the first ten Days of Dhul-Hijjah

Ibn `Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, “There are no days during which the righteous action is so pleasing to Allah than these days (i.e., the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah).” He was asked: “O Messenger of Allah, not even Jihad in the Cause of Allah?” He (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) replied, “Not even Jihad in the Cause of Allah, except in case one goes forth with his life and his property and does not return with either of it.” [Al-Bukhari].

Imam Al-Nawawi’s Riyad-us-Saliheen : Chapter 227
The Excellence of Observing Saum on the Day of ‘Arafah, ‘Ashura’ and Tasu’a (i.e., 9th of Muharram)

Abu Qatadah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) was asked about the observance of Saum (fasting) on the day of `Arafah. He said, “It is an expiation for the sins of the preceding year and the current year.” [Muslim].

The first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah are the best and most virtuous days of the year. They are the days in which Allaah the Mighty and Majestic – most loves the doing of good deeds. About this the Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, “The best days in the world are the ten days.” [1]

Imaam Ibnul-Qayyim (d.751H) – rahimahullaah – said, “Indeed, its days are the most excellent of all the days with Allaah. And it has been confirmed in Saheehul-Bukhaaree (2/382), from Ibn ’Abbaas (radiyallaahu ’anhumaa) who said, that Allaah’s Messenger (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, “There ore no days during which good deeds are more beloved to Allaah than these (ten) days.” He was then asked, ‘Not even jihaad in the path of Allaah?’ So he replied, “Not even jihaad in the path of Allaah, except for a person who goes out with his self and his wealth, and comes back with nothing.” And it is these ten days that Allaah has taken an oath by in His Book, by His saying,

By the Dawn and by the Ten Nights. [Sooratul-Fajr 89:1-2]

This is why it is recommended to increase in making takbeer (saying Allaahu akbar), tahleel (saying Laa ilaaha illallaah) and tamheed (saying Alhamdulillaah) during these days …”[2]

The Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, “There are no days that are greater with Allaah, and in which good deeds are more beloved to Him, than these ten days. So increase in making tasbeeh (saying Subhaanallaah), tamheed, tahleel and takbeer, during them.”[3]

Sending Salutations Upon The Prophet ﷺ On Jumu’ah (a forgotten Sunnah) – Dawood Burbank [Audio Clip|En]

The authentic hadeeth that mentions that it has not been restricted to the day time of Jumuah but rather there is a authentic hadeeth reported by Anas radhiyallahu anhu, Allah’s messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said “Be plentiful in sending salat upon me on the day of Jumuah and on the night of Jumu’ah i.e the night before Jumuah, so whoever sends a single salat upon me then Allah will send salat upon him ten times over”. Hadeeth reported by Bayhaqi. Declared as saheeh by sheikh albani in his saheeha no.1407.

As for the explanation of Sheikh Muhammed Bin Salih al-Uthaymeen rahimahullah, then he said – as a regard to this hadeeth and from that which is specific to the day of Jumuah is sending abundant salat upon the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and there is no doubt that the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is the one after the whole creation who has the greatest of rights upon us. His rights upon us are greater than the rights of our own selves upon ourselves. And therefore, it is obligatory to give precedence to love him of our love of oneself and one’s child and one’s father and one’s mother and one’s wife and all of mankind. And it is not possible for your eman to be complete unless you give precedence to love of the messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam over love of everyone, every person

And from his right upon you is that you should be abundant in sending salat and salam upon him. And he is not in actually any need of your salat and your salam but rather you are in need of the reward of the salat and salam because you if you send salat upon the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam a single time then Allah will send salat upon you on account of it ten times over. So, if you say “Allahumma salli ala Muhammad” “O Allah extol Muhammed and Allah will extol you ten times over”. So, you are the one in need of that and the messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is not in need of it.

And he said: However, what is the meaning of salat upon the messenger? and we say “Allahumma salli alaa Muhammad” then many of us do not know the meaning of this phrase. What is the meaning of the saying “Allahumma salli ala Muhammad”? “O Allah send salat upon Muhammed. He said Abul-Aaliya rahimahullah mentions that he said that the salat of Allah upon his prophet means he’s praising him, he’s extoling him to the highest company of angels. He praises him saying “my servant so and so has such and such” and He mentions praiseworthy qualities. So, if you send salat upon the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam then Allah will extol you ten times over. So, it is upon you to be abundant and sending salat and salam upon Allah’s messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam on the day of Jumuah and at every time.

Depending Upon Astronomical Calculations For The Beginning and End Of Ramadaan is an Innovation Of The Raafidah Shee`ah

بسم الله ال رحمن ال رحيم

Depending Upon Astronomical Calculations For The Beginning & End Of Ramadaan Is An Innovation Of The Raafidah Shee`ah – Contrary To The Ijmaa` Of The Salaf

AL-BUKHAAREE reports in his ‘Saheeh’ : BOOK OF FASTING : CHAPTER : THE SAYING OF THE PROPHET (Peace be upon him) : << WE DO NOT WRITE, NOR DO WE RECKON. >> :-

“Aadam narrated to us: Shu`bah narrated to us: al-Aswad ibn Qays narrated to us: Sa`eed ibn `Amr narrated to us: that he heard Ibn `Umar – radiyallaahu `anhumaa – report from the Prophet (Peace be upon him) that he said: <We are an unlettered nation, we do not write, nor do we reckon. The month is like this – and like this> – meaning once twenty-nine, and once thirty.”

al-Haafiz ibn Hajr said in “Fathul-Baaree‟ (4/137):

“…This is not rebutted by the fact that there were people amongst them who could write and count – since the ability to write was rare amongst them, and what is meant by reckoning here is reckoning the stars and their movements. They had not used to know that either, except for a tiny few of them. So the ruling for Fasting and other than it is connected to sighting the moon, to remove any difficulty from them – so they do not have to go to pains to calculate astronomical movements, and this ruling for Fasting continues even if there appears after them people who know that. Indeed what is apparent from the context indicates a denial that the ruling is to be connected to astronomical calculations at all. This is also made clear by his saying in the previous hadeeth: So if it is cloudy for you then complete thirty days> – and he did not say: Ask the people of calculations. The wisdom in this is that the number (of days) when it is cloudy will be something which the people are the same about, so disagreement and dispute will be avoided.

Some people hold that the astronomers are to be referred to in this – and they are the Raafidah. It is related from some of the fuqahaa· (jurists) that they agreed with them. al-Baajee said: “But the ijmaa` of the Salafus-Saalih (pious predecessors) is a proof against them”,

and Ibn Bazeezah said:

It is a false and futile (baatil) stance, since the Legislation has forbidden us from delving into knowledge of the stars, since it is surmise and estimations, not based upon certainty and predominant consideration – along with the fact that if the affair were connected to it, then it would cause difficulty since it is known only by a few… .”

Our Call is to Correct What People Have Corrupted – Shaykh Muhammad al-Anjaree

Bismillaah Al-Hamdulillaah wa salatu wa salaamu ‘ala rasulullaah
Amma-ba’d

Our Call is to Correct What People Have Corrupted, by Shaykh Muhammad al-Anjaree (hafidhahullaah Ta’aala)

[The following are notes – not verbatim – from this highly beneficial Scholarly Lesson and Advice]

After beginning with the name of Allaah, and praising Allaah, and asking Allaah to send His peace and security upon the noblest of His Messengers, our Prophet Muhammad, then Shaikh Al-Anjaree greeted the Muslims with the greeting of Islaam – as-salamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa baarakatu – before beginning:

Allaah said:

You [true believers in Tawheed, and real followers of Prophet Muhammad, and his Sunnah] are the best of peoples ever raised up for mankind; you enjoin Al-Ma’roof (Tawheed and all that Islaam has ordained) and forbid Al-Munkar (polytheism, disbelief and all that Islaam has forbidden), and you believe in Allaah… (Aali ‘Imran, ayah 110)

Allaah, Ta’aala, said:

وَلْتَكُنْ مِنْكُمْ أُمَّة ٌ يَدْعُونَ إِلَى الْخَيْرِ وَيَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ وَأُوْلَائِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ

Let there arise out of you a group of people inviting to all that is good (Islaam), enjoining Al-Ma’roof (Tawheed and all that Islaam orders one to do) and forbidding Al-Munkar (polytheism and disbelief and all that Islaam has forbidden). And it is they who are the successful. (Aali ‘Imran, ayah 104)

Allaah, Subhanahu wa Ta’aala, has made the goodness of this nation in its commanding of the good and forbidding of the evil.

Commanding the good means commanding with the Religion, with Tawheed – that Allaah be singled out with worship – and the correct Manhaj and the Sunnah. And forbidding the evil means that they forbid Shirk, Bid’ah, and sins, and whatever is contrary to this Religion.

So the good comes about with enjoining of the good and forbidding the evil. And this is what Allaah, Subhanahu wa Ta’aala, commanded us with. So this Ummah is commanded to enjoin the good, and this was the duty carried out by the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and the Sahaba (radiallaahu Ta’aala ‘anhum), who called to good and called to the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).

The Sahaaba called to good, and they likewise forbade all evil, all that the Religion prohibits, such as Shirk, Bid’ah, and the rest of the evil – everything that runs contrary to this Deen.

The flag-bearers, banner-carriers of the Sunnah are the carriers of this Religion, and they are those who command with the Sunnah and forbid Bid’ah, and the sahaaba (radiallaahu Ta’aala ‘anhum) carried out this role and were the carriers of this banner, and this is clear from their narrations.*

It is reported that Ibn ‘Abbaas (radiallaahu ‘anhumma) said: “By Allaah, I do not think that anyone will be more pleased with my death than Shaytaan.” It was said, “How is that?” He replied, “An innovation is invented in the East or the West, and a man brings it to me. When it reaches me, I crush it with the Sunnah.”

They [the Sahaaba] called to revival of the Sunnah, and from forbidding evil is to demolish innovations (heresies).

So when it reached ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab (radiallaahu ‘anhu) that Sabeegh ibn ‘Asl had come up with some tafseer of the Qur`an off the top of his head, from Soorat an-Nazi’at, ‘Umar told him: If you were MuHaliqqa (bold-headed, like the Khawaarij), I would have cut off your neck. Meaning (he would have done that) to preserve the religion, the Sunnah, the methodology of Prophethood. This was their eager concern.

Ordering the good – the Sunnah – and forbidding evil – bid’ah.

The Prophet (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) described these people of truth, these people of strangeness in his saying: Glad tidings is for the strangers.

He was asked: Who are the strangers? He (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: They are a righteous people amongst many evil people. Those who disobey them will be more than those who obey them.

So these are the strangers. The sahaba (radiallaahu ‘anhum) were like this. As was indicated by the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) in his saying: Islaam began as strange, and it will return strange as it began. So glad tidings to the strangers. [Saheeh Muslim, no. 145] He was asked: Who are the strangers? He (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: They are a righteous people amongst many evil people. Those who disobey them will be more than those who obey them.

Obey them in what?

Meaning those who obey them in their call to the Sunnah and clarifying the truth and seeking to kill off – refute – bid’ah and falsehood.

The Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: Whoever revives a Sunnah from my Sunnah, and the people act upon it, then for him will be the reward for all those who act on it. [Ibn Majah]

This is the Sunni who commands the Sunnah – commands the good – and forbids the evil.

Whoever revives a Sunnah – from the Prophet’s Manhaj, his path – and calls to the Sunnah, and the people act on it, so he receives the reward of all those who act on it without their reward reducing. This Sunni is the one who enjoins the good and forbids the evil. And this is a bounty from Allaah, Who bestows this upon whomever He wishes.

And opposite to this: Whoever calls to bid’ah, he will incur the sin of all those who act on it, without their sins reducing. So therefore, it is a right upon the people of the Sunnah – callers to the truth – to carry out this role, and call to the Sunnah, and strive to uproot innovation (heresies).

The true person of the Sunnah strives to uproot bid’ah. A person truly upon the Sunnah calls to the revival of the Sunnah. A person of bid’ah calls to revival of bid’ah. The Sunni encourages people upon the Sunnah and upon crushing bid’ah.

It has been reported that the Mesenger of Allaah (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said about the strangers: They will be a people who rectify what the people have corrupted from my Sunnah after me.

Imam at-Tirmidhi said it is hasan-saheeh. [Although some scholars of hadeeth have said it is not authentic,] the meaning of this is correct. The strangers are those who rectify what people have corrupted from the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) after his passing. So, this is the description of the strangers, that they rectify what the people have corrupted. Fasad (corruption) comes about as a result of bid’ah – no doubt. Bid’ah results in corruption – no doubt!

A person upon the Sunnah calls to the Sunnah, and seeks to benefit the people with what is beneficial in their beliefs, sayings, actions, and methodologies, and strives to rectify what people have corrupted.

So these are Al-Ghuraabah (the strangers). They are the people of the Sunnah, those who revive the Sunnah of the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and who revive the Prophet’s Methdology, and bring back to life what has been killed from his Sunnah.

Because in the hadeeth, the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: Whoever revives a Sunnah from my Sunnah... This being the opposite of killing off a Sunnah.** Then the Sunni comes and he revives it, brings it back to life (after learning it, he practices it, becomes firm upon it, and teaches it to others). This is their role.

And this is why Imam Ahmad (rahimahullaah Ta’aala) said about them (those who call to the Sunnah and its revival) in the introduction of his book Ar-Rad ‘alal Jahmiyyah (The Refutation upon the Jahmiyyah):

All praise is for Allaah, Who leaves a group after the Messengers from amongst the people of knowledge who negate the changes, distortions of those who go to the extreme. And the changes of those who are ignorant. [This group] is those who call people from misguidance to guidance, and are patient upon harm. How many are they who have gone astray whom they helped bring back to guidance? How many are those [whose eeman] have been killed by Iblees whom they have helped give life to again? How beautiful is their effect upon the people, and how ugly and vile is the effect of the people upon them?

Imam Ahmad described these callers to the Sunnah by saying about them.

How beautiful is their effect upon the people, and how ugly and vile is the effect of the people upon them?

How ugly is the effect of those who raise the banner of bid’ah upon the people of the Sunnah.

The people of the Sunnah are the strangers, those who repel the false distortions, the false tafseer, and refute the changes. The strangers correctly interpret and understand the Qur`an and Sunnah, and the Names and Attributes of Allaah. Those who carry this duty are the Awliyya` of Allaah, the beloved and obedient servants of Allaah.

Shaikh-ul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah Ta’aala) said: “Those who establish the duty of preserving what was inherited from the Messenger (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) – and safeguard it from any addition or deletion – are from the greatest of the awliyya` of Allaah; they are of the beloved servants of Allaah and His party.

Pay attention to what Ibn Taymeeyah said: “Those who establish the duty of preserving what was inherited from the Messenger (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) – and safeguard it from any addition or deletion – are from the greatest of the awliyya` of Allaah; they are of the beloved servants of Allaah and His party.

So this is the duty and role of Ahlus-Sunnah, who revive what Ahlul-Bid’ah have killed off.

If a Sunni is asked: what do you call to?

He [the Sunni] says: I call to the religion of the Messenger (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) – reviving it and reviving the Prophet’s Sunnah – and to crushing Bid’ah so as to make the truth clear from innovations (bid’ah), distortions and false interpretations.

Allaah, The Most High, consoled His Messenger (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam):

وَلَقَدْ كُذِّبَتْ رُسُل ٌ مِنْ قَبْلِكَ فَصَبَرُوا عَلَى مَا كُذِّبُو

Verily, (many) Messengers were denied before you (O Muhammad), but with patience they bore the denial… (Al-An’aam, ayah 34)

This shows us that this path that the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and his companioions proceeded upon is a path that requires patience. So, oh person who carries the banner of the Sunnah, you need to remember this and that you are a stranger.

You will have to bear harm, just as Imam Ahmad (rahimahullaah) said: How beautiful is their effect upon the people, and how ugly and vile is the effect of the people upon them?

The person upon this path needs sabr. The people need from you that you have sabr.

Imam Ibnul Qayyim (rahimahullaah) said: “Whoever proceeds upon the Straight Path that the Messenger (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and his companions were upon, let him make himself get used to trouble from the ignoramuses and Ahlul-Bid’ah, such as them belittling him, attacking him, warning against him.”

This is the path of the ghuraba, the strangers, Ahlus-Sunnah, those who want to revive what the people kill off from the Manhaj of Ahlus-Sunnah.

So you need to have sabr upon that. You will receive attacks from Ahlul Bid’ah, which is normal that it will happen, just as Imam Ahmad, Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibnul Qayyim (rahimahumullaah) said.

Allaah’s Messenger (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: Ahead of you there lie days of patience, during which being patient will be like grasping a hot coal… ***

Meaning the one who clings to the Sunnah, the methodology of the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and his companions (radiallaahu ‘anhum).

The Religion is not left up to the intellects of men and their opinions – Sharhu Sunnah

The Religion is ‘not left up to the intellects of men and their opinions’
From Shaykh Fawzaan’s hafizahullaah explanation of Sharh-us-Sunnah
Translated by Abu Talhah rahimahullaah

From Shaykh Fawzaan‘s hafidhahullaah explanation of Sharh-us-Sunnah (lesson 6)

His saying, “It was not left up to the intellects of men and their opinions.”

The Religion is not what men deem to be good or what they hold as their opinion, because this is not the Religion of Allaah. This is the Religion of the people, which they have newly invented. As for the Religion of Allaah the Mighty and Majestic, then it is what He legislated.  As for that which the men hold as their opinion, based upon their own opinions, this is not the Religion of Allaah the Perfect and Most High.  Rather it is just a religion of whoever holds that opinion. So nothing can be ascribed to Allaah from the Religion except that which He legislated upon the tongue of His Messenger sallAllaahu `alayhi wa sallam. And as for what others besides Him legislated, then it cannot be ascribed to Allaah, rather it can only be ascribed to whoever legislated it, and Allaah is free of it.  He the Most High said:

أَمْ لَهُمْ شُرَكَاء شَرَعُوا لَهُم مِّنَ الدِّينِ مَا لَمْ يَأْذَن بِهِ اللَّهُ

Do they have partners who legislate for them religion which Allaah has not permitted (Sooratush-Shooraa (42), aayah 21)

His saying, “And its knowledge is with Allaah and His Messenger sallAllaahu `alayhi wa sallam. The affairs of the Religion are towqeefiyyah (depend upon text); there must be proofs from Allaah and His Messenger with regard to the affairs of the Religion. The matter is restricted to what occurs in the Book and the Sunnah from the affairs of the Religion. And newly introduced matters and innovations are abandoned, that which Allaah has not sent down any proof for – even if their people hold them to be religion, and they draw closer to Allaah through them, then we turn no attention to these things and we do not believe in them, because the Religion of Allaah is what He legislated and His Messenger.

Because the Religion is based upon knowledge which came from Allaah and His Messenger. And do not follow the desires of the people and the opinions of the people and what they declare to be good and what they follow each other upon, and it has no basis in the Book of Allaah or the Sunnah of His Messenger sallAllaahu `alayhi wa sallam. Just as he `alayhis-salaatu was-salaam said:

“Whoever introduces into this affair of ours that which is not from it, it is rejected.”

And in one narration:

“Whoever does an action which our affair is not in accordance with, it is rejected”[1]

So the person who wishes that his action be righteous and be beneficial, then he should adhere to two matters:

The first matter: is that he makes his Religion pure for Allaah and free from shirk.

And the second matter: ittibaa` following the Sunnah of Allaah’s Messenger sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam, free of innovations and newly introduced affairs.

A person will indeed find many things which contradict what is correct in the `aqeedah, matters which contradict what is correct in matters of worship, many of them; (because) the people have desires, and have their own aspirations, and they have  their own opinions and they have their own ways (which  they follow). So we do not follow the people, rather we present whatever the people are upon to the Book and the Sunnah. So whatever conforms with the Book and the Sunnah then it is the Truth, and whatever contradicts these two then it is false and futile.

How Did Your Affair Begin, O Messenger of Allaah? – Daawood Burbank

How Did Your Affair Begin, O Messenger of Allaah?

ad-Daarimee reported (1/8-9), and al-Haakim (2/616-617), and Ahmad (4/184) from `Utbah ibn Mas`ood as-Sulamee, and he was from the Companions of Allaah’s Messenger (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam), that he narrated that: A man said to Allaah’s Messenger (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam):  “How did your affair begin, O Messenger of Allaah?”

So he said:

<< I was being taken care of by a woman from Banoo Sa`d ibn Bakr. So I went off with a son of hers along with some of our goats, and we did not take any provision along with us. So I said: “O my brother, go and bring us some provision from our mother.” So my brother went off and I remained with the goats. Then two white beings that were flying came, being as if they were two eagles. Then one of them said to the other: “Is it him?” The other one replied; “Yes”. So they hastened to me, took hold of me, and threw me upon the ground on my back. Then they split open my chest and extracted two black clots from it, and one of them said to his companion: “Bring me ice-water”, and he washed my insides with it. Then he said: “Bring me snow-water”, and he washed my heart with it. Then he said: “Bring me tranquillity”. And he planted it in my heart. Then one of them said to his companion: “Sew it up”, so he sewed it up and sealed it with the seal of Prophethood. Then one of them said to the other: “Place him upon a scale, and place a thousand of his nation upon another scale.” >>

Allaah’s Messenger (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) said :

<< “So I saw a thousand people above me and feared that some of them were going to fall upon me.” He said: “If his whole nation were weighed against him he would outweigh them.” Then they went off and left me. >>

Allaah’s Messenger (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) said:

<< And I became very afraid, and I went back to my mother and informed her of what I had experienced. So I wished that I had been mistaken for someone else. She said: “I entrust you to Allaah’s protection”. So she prepared a camel of hers for riding, placed me upon the saddle, and rode behind me until we reached my (true) mother. Then she said: “I have fulfilled my trust and my responsibility, and she told her what had happened to me, and this did not alarm her. She said: “When he came out from me I saw light which shone and revealed the palaces of Shaam.”>>

Shaikh al-Albaanee said in “as-Saheehah” (no.373):
“…..this chain of narration is “hasan”… and this hadeeth has many witnesses…”

الفَتَّاح Al-Fattaah (The Judge, The Opener): One of the Names of Allah

الفَتَّاح Al-Fattaah, with a faa and a taa with a shaddah on it and a alif and a haa, (the Judge and Opener Who distinguishes the truth from falsehood), the Judge Who judges between His servants with the truth and with justice, with His legislation and with His decree and Who is never unjust and the One Who opens the gates of mercy and provision and whatever is closed to His servants and Who opens the eyes and hearts of His servants for them to see the truth and the One Who aids and grants victory to His believing servants and Who distinguishes the truth from falsehood.

الفَتَّاح
“Al-Fattaah – (the Judge/the Granter of blessings)”

Shaykh ‘Abd ur-Razzaaq al-Badr (hafidhahullaah) comments:

Shaykh ‘Abd ur-Rahmaan bin Sa’dee, rahimahullaah, said: ‘Al-Fattaah has two meanings.

The first meaning is: the One who judges between His slaves, and judges between them with His legislation and by rewarding those who obey (Him) and punishing those who disobey (Him) in the dunyaa and aakhira, as His, ta’aala, statement: {Say: ‘Our Lord will assemble us all together (on the Day of Resurrection), then He will judge between us in truth. And He is the Just Judge, the All-Knower of the true state of affairs’}, and His, ta’aala, statement: {‘Our Lord! Judge between us and our people in truth, for You are the Best of those who give judgment}.

The second meaning is: the One who opens all doors of blessings for His slaves. He, ta’aala, said: {Whatever Allaah grants to people of mercy – none can withhold it}. He grants benefits of the dunyaa and deen to His slaves, and opens the locks upon hearts for those whom He has favored with His Kindness and Care, and showers (the hearts) with knowledge and understanding from Him and realities of faith that rectifiy their conditions and by which they remain upon the Straight Path; and what’s more special is that He grants those who love Him and turn to Him knowledge from Him, spiritual conditions, shining lights and true understanding. And likewise He opens for His slaves the doors of rizq (provision) and the paths of the means, and paves the way for provisions and the means to (these provisions) for the muttaqoon (those who fear Him) from where they can’t imagine, and gives the mutawakkiloon (those who put their trust in Him) beyond what they ask and hope for, and makes easy for them affairs that are difficult, and opens for them doors that are closed.”

No Soul Shall Bear The Sin Of Another – Shaikh Abdur-Rahmaan ibn Naasir as-Sa’dee

Taken from “Tayseerul-Kareemir-Rahmaan fee tafseer Kalaamil-Mannaan” of Shaikh Abdur-Rahmaan ibn Naasir as-Sa‟dee.

[Meaning: And no soul shall bear the burden of sin of another, and if a soul heavily laden with sin calls someone else to bear its sins, nothing of it will be lifted even though he be near of kin.][Sooratul-Faatir (35): Ayah 18]

Shaikh `Abdur-Rahmaan ibn Naasir as-Sa‟dee- rahimahullaah-said in his Tafseer of the Aayah: “And the last meaning is indicated by what He mentioned after it, in His Saying:

[Meaning: And no soul shall bear the burden of sin of another], meaning: on the Day of Resurrection everyone shall be recompensed for his own deeds, and no one shall carry the sins of anyone else.

[Meaning: And if a soul heavily laden with sin calls someone else to bear its sins]: i.e. a soul weighed down with sins and evil deeds: if it calls on someone to take on some of its sins,

[Meaning: Then nothing from it will be carried, even if the one asked were a close relative], for sins cannot be carried (even) for a close relative. So the Hereafter is not the same as this world, where relatives can help each other, and close friends. Rather on the Day of Resurrection a person will wish that he had some right due to him from anyone, even if it be his parents or his close relatives.”

One Who Has Part of a Prayer to Make up Should Not Get Up Until the Imaam Has Given Both Tasleems – Imam as-Sa’dee

Bismillaah

One Who Has Part of a Prayer to Make up Should Not Get Up Until the Imaam Has Given Both Tasleems* Shaikh `Abdur-Rahmaan ibn Naasir as-Sa`dee –rahimahullaah -was asked:

Question:

“Is it permissible for one who has missed something from the Prayer to stand up to complete what he has missed before the imaam completes the Salutation (tasleem)?”

Answer:

“That is not permissible for him. It is upon him to remain until the imaam has completed the second Salutation. If he gets up before he has completed his Salutation, and he does not go back, then his Prayer becomes a Supererogatory (nafl) [Prayer], and it is upon him to repeat it; because it is obligatory upon one praying behind an imaam to remain along with his imaam until the Prayer of the imaam is completed.”

Separate Rooms For The Women In The Mosques – Shaykh al Albaani

[‘Silsilatul-Hudaa wan-Noor’ tape series of Shaikh Muhammad Naasiruddeen al-Albaanee – rahimahullaah.]
TAPE NO. 329 (00:25:39), [ repeated on tape no.351 (00:44:16)] :

Q. “ O Shaikh, the hadeeth which occurs in Saheeh Muslim, where the Prophet (Peace be upon him) said, with the meaning: <<The worst of the rows of the women is the first one, and the best of them is the last one.>> So now, is that ruling, as is indicated by what is apparent from the hadeeth, the same in the closed rooms which are set up for that. Meaning in this closed places, for the women are now totally apart from the men; and it is well known that when (the scholars) spoke in explanation of the hadeeth they mentioned that the underlying reason for the first rows being the worst of them is that they are the closest ones to the men, as mentioned by an-Nawawee..”

A. ( “Yes?”)

Q. “So does what is apparent from the hadeeth apply to these closed places now?”

A. “Upon my belief I am not able to answer this question, because I think that the questioner consents to this closing off being something legislated, whereas I do not hold that.”

Q. “Yes.”

A. “Because this is an innovation (bid`ah). Locking the women away, or enclosing them (in rooms) in the mosques, especially in spacious mosques, on account of the corruption in society; and confining them to a room where the movements of the imaam will be hidden from them, so that they are sometimes liable to render their Prayer deficient, to the extent of its being null and void.

So in my belief locking the women away, in rooms specific to them in the mosques, is just the same as the row being cut by having an elongated minbar. Both of these are newly introduced affairs. So it is obligatory upon us to return to what the first Salaf were upon.

(We discussed this matter at length yesterday. Yes, the brother was present with us..the brother was with us..)

So it is said: The women today are different to the women of yesterday, and there can be added to that : this is something witnessed. So this saying results in the conclusion that it is therefore befitting that we should confine the women to these rooms, so that the men do not come across anything from that which should remain hidden from the women. So I gave a relatively long answer, and time was short, so I said, as part of a long discussion: that confining the women to these rooms is not a case of legislated masaalihul-mursalah (matters established for the welfare of the Muslims), since the reason for this confinement is a failing of the Islamic society- and it includes the women- to carry out legislated obligations. So if the women entered the mosques wearing the legislated jilbaab, then those who build these rooms would not have the idea entering their minds of confining the women to them. However when they witnessed, unfortunately, some women entering, some perhaps wearing a coat/jacket, or a ‘tunic’, or what they call a ‘jilbaab’ today, and it is not a jilbaab, down to their mid calves, or sometimes wearing transparent flesh coloured tights, and so on. so the gaze of the men was liable to see something that should be hidden. So therefore they said: We will screen the women away from the men in the mosque.

So I say: No! It is rather upon us to implement Islaam, and that we return the Islamic society as a whole, not sections of it, to what was the practice in the initial time. So we contend with the society today. We want the Muslims to return: with their scholars, their students, and their common folk, to that which the Salaf were upon; not to (blind) following of madhhabs, but rather to ‘Allaah said.., His Messenger said…’

There will not be a prevention of having differenct views, just as there was at the beginning, but we do not want there to be restrictive (blind) following of madhhabs. We want the societies, the elite and the general folk, to return to what the Salaf were upon.

As with the case of the mosques. We do not want there to be elongated minbars. We do not want there to be extended minbars in the form of trickery to escape legislated prohibitions (al- Hiyal ash-Shar`iyyah). They realized that the older minbars sever the rows (for the Prayer), so now they come out to us from a minbar which he enters via the mihraab, and he ascends and then appears to the people upon a little raised platform. Why all this twisting and turning? (All that is needed) is three steps, and Allaah has sufficed the Believers so that they have no need to fight. The best guidance is the guidance of Muhammad. How many dirhams and deenaars does it cost to enable the khateeb to ascend to this platform? Based upon the claim: ‘We do not want to sever the rows.’ This claim is a good one. This is the case. However it can be attained without all of this unnecessary effort: take a minbar comprising three steps, and the problem is at an end. Likewise we do not want there to be all this decoration.

And lastly we do not want these rooms for the women. We want for the women what we want for the men: that which was previously present: that the women enter wearing hijaab, and the men move forward to the front rows.

Then in that case the previous hadeeth will apply: <<The best of the rows of the women is the last one, and the worst of them is the first one.>>

We do not want to reverse the indication of the hadeeth on account of the aberration that has appeared with the building of these rooms in the mosques.”

الرَّبّ Ar-Rabb (The Lord and Nurturer) : One of the Names of Allaah

الرَّبّ  Ar-Rabb (the Lord and Nurturer) the Lord and Master who has none like Him in His Lordship, the One Who nurtures and rectifies the affairs of the creation by the favours which He showers upon them, the Sovereign Owner Who alone creates and commands, the One Who controls the affairs and grants blessings, the One Who nurtures, the Creator, the Provider, the One Who aids and the One Who guides.

The Meaning of Ar-Rabb, the Lord

Ar-Rabb is the owner who has full authority over his property. Ar-Rabb, linguistically means, the master or the one who has the authority to lead. All of these meanings are correct for Allah. When it is alone, the word Rabb is used only for Allah. As for other than Allah, it can be used to say Rabb Ad-Dar, the master of such and such object. Further, it was reported that Ar-Rabb is Allah’s Greatest Name.

Source : Tafseer Ibn Kathir, Surah Fathiha, Dar-us-salam English publication

Shaikh Saalih ibn Saalih al-Fawzaan haafidhahullaah said in Sharh Usool-ith-Thalaathah:

And Ar-Rabb (the Lord) is the One Who is worshipped,

and the proof is His saying, He the Most High:

O mankind, single out your Lord with all worship, He Who created you and those who came before you so that you may be dutiful to Him, seeking to avoid His anger and His punishment. He Who made the earth a resting place for you and the sky a canopy, and He sent down from the clouds rain, and He brought out with it crops and fruits from the earth as provision for you, so do not set up rivals for Allaah whilst you know that you have no Lord besides Him. [2:21-22] (#9)

[#9]: His saying, “And Ar-Rabb (the Lord) is the One Who is worshipped”: meaning, He is the One Who deserves to be worshipped, as for other than Him, then it does not deserve worship, because it is not a Lord. This is the intent of the speech of the Shaikh rahimahullaah in his saying, “Ar-Rabb (the Lord) is the One Who is worshipped”, meaning He is the One Who deserves worship. Then also it is not sufficient that a person just affirms Ar-Ruboobiyyah (Lordship), rather he must affirm Al-‘Uboodiyyah (Allaah’s deserving all worship), He the Perfect and Most High, and he must carry it out making it purely and sincerely for Him, the Perfect and Most High. So since he has affirmed that He is Ar-Rabb (the Lord) then it is binding upon him to affirm that he is Al-Ma‘bood (the One Who therefore deserves to be worshipped), and that others besides Him do not deserve anything from worship.

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
<<All the praises and thanks be to Allâh, the Lord of the ‘Alamîn (mankind, jinns and all that exists)>>. (Surah Faathiha v.2)

(V.1:2) Lord: The actual word used in the Qur’ân is Rabb. There is no proper equivalent for Rabb in the English language. It means the One and the Only Lord for all the universe, its Creator, Owner, Organizer, Provider, Master, Planner, Sustainer, Cherisher, and Giver of security. Rabb is also one of the Names of Allâh.

Nothing worthy of worship except Allaah, He is Al-Awwal, Al-Aakhir and will not Perish, nor will Pass Away [Audio|En]

Audio by  Abu Talhah Dawud ibn Ronald Burbank rahimahullaah

Listen / Download Mp3 Here (Time 29:55)

In this explanation of Aqeedah Tahawiyyah, brother Dawud Burbank explains the Point #5 ,#6 and #7 as outlined below.

5. And there is nothing worthy of worship except Him.

This is Tawheed Al Uloohiyyah. Laa Ilaah means nothing worthy of worship except Him. But if you said, “Nothing is worshiped except Him”, then this is false, because there are many that are worshipped other than Allaah the Glorious and Majestic. So if you say that nothing is worshipped except Allaah, you have made everything that is worshipped into Allaah, and this is the Madh’hab of the people of Wahdatul Wajood, so if the one who says that believes in it, then he is from the people of Wahdatul Wajood, but if he does not believe in it, then he said blindly following someone, or because he heard it from someone, then this is incorrect, and it is obligatory upon him to correct that, and some people start their Salaah with this, “Nothing is worshipped except You.” And Allaah is the One Who has the right to be worshipped, and anything else other than Him that is worshipped, is worshipped upon falsehood. He the most High says, “That is because Allaah, He is the Truth, and what they invoke besides Him, it is falsehood, and verily, Allaah He is the Most High, the Most Great.” (Al Hajj 22:62)

6. He is Qadeem (Eternal) with no beginning, and the Ever Lasting with no end.

As the statement of Allaah proves this, “He is the First and the Last.“ (Al Hadid 57:3), along with the statement of His Messenger sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam, “You are the First, so there are none before You, and You are the Last, so there are none after You.” [4]

But the word Qadeem (old) is not associated with Allaah, except informatively. It is not from His names; rather from His names is Al Awwal (The First), and Al Awwal is not like Al Qadeem, because Al Qadeem may have something before it, while Al Awwal has nothing preceding it. He sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam said, “You are Al Awwal, so there are none before You.”

Rather, the author was cautious, so he said, “ He is Qadeem with no beginning.” But if he would have said, “Qadeem” and stopped, then the meaning of this would be incorrect.

Footnotes: [4] Narrated by Imaam Muslim hadeeth number 2713

7. He will not perish, nor will He pass away.

Perishing and passing away hold the same meaning. Allaah has been characterized with an everlasting life; He the most High says, “And put your trust in the Ever Living One Who dies not, and glorify His Praises, and Sufficient is He as the All-Knower of the sins of His slaves.” (Al Furqaan 25:58). So extinction does not come to Allaah, and He the Glorious and Most High says, “Everything will perish save His Face. His is the Decision, and to Him you shall be returned.” (Al Qasas 28:88). And He the most High says, “Whatsoever is on it will perish. And the Face of your Lord full of Majesty and Honor will abide forever.” (Ar Rahman 55:26-27). So eternity is for Allaah, and the creation will die and then be summoned, and they used to be non existent in the beginning, and then Allaah created them, and then they will die, and then Allaah the Glorious and Majestic will summon them. So Allaah the most High has no beginning, nor an end.

[16] Seeing Allaah In The Hereafter : To have Faith in seeing Allaah on the Day of Resurrection. They will see Allaah with the eyes of their heads [1].

Notes :
1. Allaah says:
“Some faces that Day shall be shining and radiant. Looking at their Lord”. (Soorah al-Qiyaamah 75:22-23) Shuaib reports that Allaah’s Messenger (Peace be upon him) said, “When the people of Paradise enter Paradise, Allaah, the Blessed and Most High, will say ‘Do you wish for anything extra that I may give you?’ They will say ‘Have You not brightened our faces? Have You not entered us into Paradise and saved us from the Fire?’ So He will remove the screen and they will not have been given anything more beloved to them as looking at their Lord, the Mighty and Majestic.” Reported by Muslim (Eng. trans. 1/114/no. 347) and others.

Hanbal said: I spoke to Abu ‘Abdullaah, meaning Ahmad (ibn Hanbal) about seeing Allaah (ar-Ru’yah). He said, “They are authentic ahaadeeth. We have Faith (Eemaan) in them and affirm it. We have Faith in and affirm everything reported from the Prophet (Peace be upon him) with good chains of narration.” Reported by al-Laalikaa’ee in Sharh Usool I’tiqaad Ahl is-Sunnah (no.889).

2. ‘Adiyy ibn Haatim reports that the Prophet (Peace be upon him) said, “There is not one of you except that Allaah will speak to him on the Day of Resurrection, there being no interpreter between Him and him.” Reported by al-Bukhaaree (Eng. trans. 8/358/no.547), Ahmad and at-Tirmidhee.

المُجِيب Al-Mujeeb (The One Who Responds) : One of the Names of Allaah

المُجِيب  Al-Mujeeb (the Responsive), the One who responds to supplications of those who call upon him wherever they are and whatever situation they are in, no matter how many they are in number and who responds in particular to those who submit to him and those in dire need.

[SourceThe Ninety-Nine Names of Allaah – Dawud Burbank [Audio|En] & Transcribed PDF]

Shaykh ‘Abd ur-Razzaaq al-Badr (hafidhahullaah) comments:

“And indeed as a result of having faith in the name of Allaah ‘Al-Mujeeb,’ the slave’s certainty in Allaah strengthens, and his turning to Him and hoping for what is with Him increases, and the disease of despairing from His Mercy departs from him. And how can the Muslim not trust in his Lord, the Most Generous, while in His Hand, subhaanah, is the kingdom of everything. So whatever He wills, will be, at the time that He wills, in the way that He wills, with no addition nor omission, no precedence nor delay; and His decree, subhaanah, is carried out in the heavens, and the earth and what is upon it and what is under it, and in the seas and the air, and in all the parts and atoms of the world. To Him belongs the creation and the command, to Him belongs the kingdom and the praise, to Him belongs the dunyaa and the aakhira.”

And His Name, ta’aala, ‘Al-Mujeeb’ shows that He, subhaanah, hears the du’aa of those who supplicate, and answers the request of those who ask, and does not disappoint a believer who has called upon Him, and He, subhaanah, loves that the slaves ask Him for all their needs of the deen and dunyaa, such as food, drink, clothing and shelter, just as they ask Him for guidance, forgiveness, success, assistance to obey (Him), and the like; and He promised them the response to all of that, no matter how great the request is, how much it is, and how diverse the wishes are; and in this, there is evidence of the absolute power of Allaah, subhaanah, and that His treasures will are not depleted nor diminished by (His) giving, even if He granted the first and the last of the jinn and mankind all that they asked Him, as is in the hadeeth qudsee.

And it has been mentioned in the Prophetic Sunnah that Allaah, tabaarak wa ta’aala, answers those who supplicate and gives those who ask, and that He, jalla wa ‘alaa, is Shy and Generous, too Generous to turn away the one who calls upon Him or disappoint the one who confides in Him with humility or prevent the one who asks Him.”
